+ Amazing location with stunning views and great ocean access for swimming with turtles, reef sharks and colourful fish. The villa was clean and had everything we needed. Staff were friendly and housekeeping was excellent. Massage service was great and affordable. We’re in our 50s with knee problems and had no issues with the steps—don’t be put off by reviews! The food was okay, but there are lots of nearby restaurants if you’re looking for more options. Cable TV required a Thai number and payment, which was a small letdown. Still, we had a wonderful time and would love to return. Highly recommended!

Magical Stay at Jamahkiri – 5 Stars in Every Way + We had a truly unforgettable stay at Jamahkiri. The views are absolutely breathtaking—some of the best we’ve ever experienced. The hotel is spotless, beautifully maintained, and offers a peaceful, luxurious escape from the crowds. Breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of fresh, high-quality options. We especially loved being able to snorkel right from the hotel—such a unique and convenient feature. The pool area is stunning, and lunch by the pool was a real highlight with delicious food and unbeatable scenery. The staff were warm, friendly, and always happy to help. Their kindness really added to the overall experience. The hotel is a little isolated, which is part of its charm, but more flexible shuttle times would be a great improvement. Currently, the shuttle runs to the pier at 9:00 AM (return 9:30), 11:00 AM (return 11:30), and 6:00 PM (return 6:30). It would have been helpful to have a later evening return or perhaps a sh…

+ Beautiful resort, but not ideal for those with mobility issue. Many steps up and down.

+ Lovely hotel. Beautiful surroundings. We had the 2 bed royal suite which was wonderful, specious, and had stunning views. Direct access to the sea where we saw sharks and turtles. Great cocktails by the pool.

+ Jamahkiri Dive Resort & Spa is one of those rare places where the setting truly elevates the experience. It amazes me that some guests complain about the number of steps—when even the most basic research or a quick glance at photos on the resort's website makes it obvious that it is built into a hillside. That hillside location isn’t a drawback; it’s a defining feature. It provides jaw-dropping views of the ocean and a sense of quiet seclusion that’s hard to find elsewhere on Koh Tao. The peaceful, almost meditative atmosphere is one of the reasons I’d return in a heartbeat. The staff are consistently warm, helpful, and attentive, and while the resort feels delightfully tucked away, it’s still easy to get around. You can rent a scooter in town (a great way to explore the island on your own terms), or rely on the hotel’s shuttle service, which runs to and from the pier a few times a day. A standout highlight: the hotel rents out kayaks and paddle boards. It’s an incredible value a…

Perfect. + Lovely vine, beautiful place, attentive and friendly staff. We loved this place, we enjoyed the pool, the spa, the pool and the diving. While we were there we did hear a few people whinge about the steps. The hotel is built on what would be a cliff, this gives it a unique charm and character. If you have true mobility issues, are elderly or lazy, you may struggle with the number of steps. We did not and would love to go again.

Absolutely idyllic! Beautiful hotel and grounds Stunning panoramic views! + Absolutely stunning hotel with super friendly staff who were so helpful. The ferry ride to Koh Tao was definitely worth it. It was such a relief to be met at the ferry terminal and transported to the hotel. The roads to the hotel are very steep and there are a lot of stairs to and from rooms etc. However the panoramic views from rooms, restaurant and pool are stunning! We stayed in a villa with private pool and views of the sea from our bed- just beautiful. The restaurant had a good range of meals, very reasonably priced and everything we ordered was delicious. There is great snorkelling to be had from the beach below the hotel. We loved our stay here and were very sad to leave.

Not a 5-star hotel anymore + We stayed here for 4 nights and chose Jamahkiri because I wanted to get my advanced diving certification. The on-site dive center here was great and the instructors and equipment are top notch. The dive center and the hotel are run by separate management. I have a mixed review of this hotel because of the following: This is not a 5-star hotel by any standard. It is a 4-star at best. To be truly 5-star, you have to have much better amenities, service, and restaurant which Jamahkiri does not. We were happy with our room because we got an upgrade to a room with private pool (we had booked a deluxe suite). The room was brand new but there was construction going on around it so we were given free breakfast during our stay, which was reasonable considering construction noise and debris. Though the room was lovely, the amenities could use an upgrade. The refilled shampoo, conditioner and bath soap are very cheap quality, not what one would expect for a 5-star…

+ We stayed here in April with our two teenage daughters. We loved our accommodation which was the Two bedroom Pool Villa. Modern and clean with great views over the ocean. The staff here were very friendly. As many people have mentioned there are a lot of steps here (we counted 147 from our villa to the restaurant), but we knew about this before we went and so were prepared, plus it was great exercise for us. If you have any issues with steps this may not be the hotel for you. The restaurant itself was a bit limited on the food options, and the breakfast we didn’t feel was good value for money. Due to the location of the hotel getting to other restaurants is not that achievable if you don’t have transport. The hotel itself offers free shuttles to Mae Head Pier at certain times of day which we utilised. We also did a Dive whilst here and found the Dive crew great to deal with.

Double charges months later + This review is about their front desk and accounting dept. After my husband and I checked out of Jamahkiri. I received several messages on WhatsApp from them telling me my credit card transactions for our incidentals hadn’t processed however I checked my credit card and they had processed. I checked again a week later because they insisted and were sending me daily messages with weird emojis on it. I contacted my credit card company and they told me I should block that number. Months later they charged me again. This would be the second charge for a similar amount. I assume they did that so that the credit card company wouldn’t suspect it was a double charge. Either way now I’m in a dispute with Jamahkiti over fraud. Because they’ve charged me twice and ive also had to cancel that card. I’m not sure if this is a rouge employee or practices from their company but either way it’s fraudulent and very sketchy… so beware. The hotel grounds and room in general…

+ Stayed in a villa for a couple of nights and then rooms due to availability. Like night and day - the villa was beautiful and modern, whereas the rooms were pretty average. Also, diving at this resort was exorbitant and it’s much much more cost effective to dive at a local shop 10 mins away - strange really as the resort is SSI not PADI and they go to all the same dive spots.

+ Staff was nice and friendly. We took the simple room which was old, sheets had stains, the ac was loud and kept waking us up. We liked the pool and the view.

Tasteful and elegant at the most fantastic location for underwater experience. + Fantastic place with really nice facilities, very friendly staff and the best snorkling experience. Clean, relaxing atmosphere. Good food at the restaurant and the breakfast is great. Only be aware of the steep and long stairs everywhere due to the location on the cliff.

Very bad experience! + I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay and to request a full refund for the Deluxe Pavilion with Sea View we booked. We spent three days without functional air conditioning. The hotel maintenance team entered our room five times to attempt repairs, yet the unit failed every single night, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. When we started complaining and asking them to do something immediately, the response was, "You can cancel your reservation and go anywhere else." This, after 2 days of ignoring the fact that we are suffering in a hot country. Never experienced rude, unprofessional behaviour like this. As a 5-star establishment, the standard protocol should have been to move us to a cooler room immediately, rather than subjecting us to three days of discomfort. I paid $721.50 for this room. Saff offered us a $45 discount for a room that lacked basic climate control, which is insulting. We expect a full refund for the Deluxe Pa…

Honeymoon Disaster!! + Do not book this hotel for any kind of special occasion. We had a sea view suite booked for our honeymoon, which had been booked months in advance, the hotel cancelled at the very last minute (we were on our way to the airport!) ruining our honeymoon and resulting in having to change islands and not getting to visit Koh Tao. Completely unprofessional and not worth the risk.

Very poor... + I do not recommend this hotel. The location is beautiful and the view is spectacular — but that’s about it. There are many serious issues. The air conditioning simply does not work properly. It is unbearable at night; you need to take a cold shower just to feel some relief. The unit is very weak and takes hours to cool the room, if it cools at all. The internet is extremely slow and inconsistent, making it unreliable. For the price they charge, this is unacceptable. The quality of the shampoo and soap is very poor, the towels feel like those from a budget hotel, and the taxi to the hotel costs 500 baht each way. Overall, it is overpriced and does not deliver the level of comfort and quality expected for this category.

Beautiful views over Shark Bay and the sea. + This is a wonderful place to stay. Relaxed and comfortable with attractive rooms. It is attractively settled into a hill over the water. Easy walk to the water. It overlooks Shark Bay which has blue and green jewel colored water. The staff is friendly and helpful. You don't have to snorkel or scuba dive but if you do this is the place to be. Be sure to go into town. It is a short and inexpensive taxi ride. Two restaurants in town which I suggest are French Market and Whitening. Go to Whitening at sunset. It is right on the beach.

Lots of highs and one low + I had a really lovely visit to Jamahkiri resort. The villa we stayed in was really nice with its own plunge pool and view of the endless sea. Inside was spotless clean but showed a little wear from being by the sea. As others have said, there are lots and lots of stairs, no elevators, and the entire resort is perched on the side of a hill like a billygoat. I would stay here with the intention of spending all of my time at the resort. It's just so difficult to get from your room to just about anywhere (even if you stay within the resort) that you will tire yourself out with all of the up and down. I visited with a girlfriend who loves to work out, so it was perfect for her and I was there for the diving and snorkeling. We ordered room service and I ate at the buffet breakfast each morning (it was not included in our room but was worth the 500 baht with western and eastern food, british breakfast items, and champagne. There is a shuttle to Mae Haad pier and a…
