Already dreaming of my return… + I am writing this review as I leave the Como Shambhala Estate (CSE) and I am already anticipating my return. This is my 5th time at CSE and it is quite simply one of the most beautiful and friendly places I have ever been. What CSE is to me: Quiet luxury. Restorative. Unplugged. Serene. Chill. Nature. Wellness. AUTHENTIC. If you want a place to escape the world and recharge, look no further. If you want a ‘scene’ or a disco or great bar or kids club, consider another place. SUITES: CSE has a variety of suites - which are mostly stand alone, with some exceptions. Some suites have their own pool while others are situated in one of the 5 ‘residences’ which each have a 4-5 villas centered around a large pool and a common living and dining room space. Given this setup, you will always find a lounger and a personal place to chill. There is no ‘best’ residence or suite, just style and preferences… In our case, we stayed at the two bedroom ‘Com…

An Unforgettable Stay- Thank You Yudian and Staff! + COMO Shambhala is truly something special. Tucked into the jungle of Ubud and backing onto the Ayung River, the setting alone is magical—especially the 400 steps leading down to serene natural pools beside the rushing river. From the moment we arrived, the experience was seamless. Dayu and Sapha arranged everything beautifully, from a sunrise temple visit to exploring rice fields, a coffee farm, and Ubud itself. Our Dirga was kind, safe, and a joy to spend time with. Our guide, Yudian, made the trip unforgettable. A local from a nearby village, she brought such warmth and depth to every experience—from guiding us through Bali to leading a deeply moving water blessing ceremony with traditional music. We even brought her rafting with us on the Ayung, which says everything. What truly sets Shambhala apart is its people—every single person we encountered was warm, genuine, and attentive. A beautiful and memorable stay + I booked a stay at COMO Shambhala for my parents’ anniversary, and it exceeded every expectation. The staff went above and beyond to make their visit special. Their room was stunning with an incredible view, and the property itself is immaculate—lush, tranquil, and truly transporting. The food was both hearty and delicious, and every staff member they encountered was warm and attentive. The airport transportation arranged by the hotel was also reliable and on time, which made everything seamless. My parents said it was their favorite stays ever. I really wanted this to be a special trip for them, and I’m so appreciative of everything the staff did to make it truly unforgettable.

Quiet Luxury Transformative Experience + As a travel curator who has lived in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, London, New York and Sydney and travelled the world extensively, it takes quite a lot to genuinely stop me in my tracks. COMO Shambhala Estate managed it. This is quiet luxury at its finest - the clientele is understated, the setting is 23 acres of Balinese jungle above the sacred Ayung River, and the service operates on a level I have rarely experienced. They are not just anticipating your needs, they are pre-empting them before you’ve even had the thought yourself. I walked down to Kedara - the three holy water spring pools you can swim in, expecting to be alone, lost in the jungle, when a staff member appeared seemingly from nowhere with a cool face cloth and chilled water with lime. Our favourite hotel in Ubud + Just completed our second stay at Como Shambhala Estate, and it was as good as ever. We simply loved how tranquil it was at the hotel - the grounds were massive and they were just over 30 rooms and villas to occupy it. We loved the food here, especially at Kudus house, the massage, the grounds, the residences and the service from all staff members. We stayed at the Bayugita residence, which was fantastic, and I think all residences will be renovated by 2027. Special thanks to our butler Karti, who was outstanding, and to Dewa, the activities manager, for making our stay memorable. We look forward to returning next year.

Spectacular 🤩 + We stayed in the Como Shambhala Suite in the Bayugita Residence. It was outstanding. We visited other residences and accommodations during our 3 night stay and honestly, they are all beautiful and you couldn’t be disappointed with any choice. On booking, if you have any specific preference the staff will be able to select the perfect suite for you. The scheduled activities are amazing. Pilates, yoga, meditation etc… The Estate walk will showcase this amazing property. The jungle setting, natural spring water pools and massage Bale’s. The Spa with its Saunas, Infrared treatments, Steam room and Hydrotherapy pool is first class! Don’t miss the Hydrotherapy session - a highlight. Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Special thanks is to the beautiful Tirta our designated Personal Assistant who took care of our every need. And big thank you to Utami for her exceptional spa treatments. Wow!!! + It's hard to put into words exactly how this place makes you feel. The first thing that struck me was the view. Lush, expansive rainforest stretching as far as the eye can see. There is a sense of calm here that is difficult to describe and even harder to leave behind. The service is warm, personal and genuinely caring. Each guest is assigned a personal assistant who is available via WhatsApp throughout their stay. I didn't realise this was a service I needed until I experienced it, but it made everything so smooth and effortless. The residences are beautiful, offering modern luxury while still retaining plenty of Balinese charm. Thoughtful touches are everywhere, from the complimentary private bar stocked with fresh juices and homemade biscuits, replenished daily, to the smart Japanese toilet in our room. The most beautiful hotel + This is one of the most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Food was incredible, service was discrete and exceptional and the activity list was really good. Special shout to to my personal assistant, Rudana, who organised everything seamlessly. I cannot wait to return!

Wow! What a place this is! + “Wow”. Thats all we kept saying for the whole time we were there! It’s located in the middle of the jungle next to the Ayung River and you can walk down to the river within the estate. It’s amazing. Genuinely incredible. It was fully booked but felt empty (in a good way), you only really see people at breakfast, and even then it’s probably only 30 ish people. It’s quiet, relaxing, luxurious. The place is incredible, just needs to be seen to be believed. Once again, the Como staff make this place what it is. The estate itself is magical, it’s like being in a Jurassic Park movie (minus the dangerous animals). The rooms (residences) are huge but still understated luxury, you feel the design and intention but it’s not flashy and shiny and gaudy resort style, it’s perfect. Incredible place! + We booked to stay 8nights at Como and we loved it so much we extended our stay another 6nights. I couldn’t recommend it more highly. The estate itself is absolutely beautiful—peaceful, immaculately maintained, and surrounded by stunning rainforest. It was the perfect place to relax, reset, and disconnect from the outside world. There was no sounds of traffic or dogs parking which I loved and made my stay feel very exclusive. The wellness facilities and treatments were exceptional. The food was another highlight—every meal was fresh, nutritious, and delicious. we ate at the glow restaurant every night. What truly made the experience special was the outstanding service. Every member of the team went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and memorable. Their genuine care and hospitality made me feel completely looked after. A Truly Special Place + This was my second time at COMO Shambhala Estate - I first came three years ago, and honestly I never stopped thinking I wanted to come back! I've stayed at a lot of nice and luxury hotels over the years but this one is still my favourite, hands down. The setting alone it's increadible: jungle all around, a waterfall on the property, nothing but nature sounds. It's just built for slowing down. The villa where we stayed it was gorgeous. They've renovated recently and somehow made it even better without losing what made it special in the first place. But honestly, it's the people who make this place. Nizel gave us the warmest welcome, and Ayu, our butler, took care of us the whole stay and even helped set up a surprise for my partner. As well, a huge thanks also to the F&B and front desk teams - genuinely kind, attentive, smiling every day, no exceptions. Leaving actually made me emotional, which doesn't happen often. + Pilates 10/10 − I had a disappointing experience with Jonathan during my visit to Como Shambhala. He came across as quite contrarian and seemed to enjoy arguing with me. I felt disrespected by his approach. I came to Como Shambhala specifically to improve my well-being, not to debate with an acupuncturist. Unfortunately, my health felt worse rather than better after the appointment.
