A really great old atmospheric hotel, only spoiled by price gouging. + An older style pub. Lots of atmosphere. Super friendly staff. Garden bar. Really good to have during a heat wave:) Superb meals - diner & breakfast. Comfortable accomodation on ground level, easy access. Large car park. − We booked this accomodation almost a year before our visit. The price, although not the cheapest in town, was acceptable when the booking was accepted. Unfortunately I was contacted a couple of months later to say the price would be almost double due to a major motorsport event the same weekend nearby!! It appeared that other accomodation in the town had done the same, so we were left with no choice but to pay the extra!

Great location, superb food. + Staff friendly and welcoming. Food was superb. Room comfortable and clean. − Air freshener sticks in room a little overpowering. Not a problem for one night though.

Perfect location for exploring the area. Very comfortable rooms located in garden , friendly staff, + The staff were professional, efficient very helpful and very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Always asking if things were OK and offers to help. The room was cleaned by lady every day, fresh bottles of water, tea, milk and biscuits provided daily. Beds made and rubbish cleared. Choice of time of breakfast and ability to choose what to order for the next day day. Also very friendly evening staff in the bar, restaurant & kitchen . Exceptional, delicious evening meals and menu options, lots of choice, excellent value for money. We ate there every night because it was such a lovely pub. − There was nothing we didn't like .

+ Great place to stay for a couple of nights. Good food, staff friendly and rooms very comfortable. − Our room was in an outbuilding on the edge of the pub garden. Because the weather was so nice a lot of people were out there so it could be a little noisy. Also, it was possible to hear the guests in the adjoining room talking so the walls were not particularly thick.

Very pleasant friendly stay + Great food, ground floor easy-access rooms in old stable block − The door to room 1 was off the car park. It has been screened by a fence but the area could be swept and maybe have a basket/pot of flowers.

Will certainly stop there again when we are next in the area. + Breakfast was excellent and I couldn’t fault anything. − A welcome drink on arrival due to the weather conditions which was very hot.

Another really good stay. + Food at breakfast and for evening meals was excellent. Location is very good for walks, access to Chichester and by using the bus, travelling further afield. Rooms were good but now need some touching up of paintwork. Very good garden area that again needs some TLC with tidying, pruning to make it perfect.

Comfortable, friendly and relaxed stay + Very easy to find good parking and access to room. Food was very good, evening meal with family was lovely. Loved idea of pre booked breakfast for exactly what we wanted. Friendly staff, good value and quiet location. Rooms maybe need a little update of decor − Nothing we were o really very satisfied with our stay and will return

Enjoyable overnight stay close to centre of Chichester with friendly staff and clean rooms + Staff very friendly. Rooms comfortable and good to have tea and coffee and water . Shower room clean and well arranged . Plenty of sockets, lighting good . Enjoyed the breakfast which was cooked to order . − Polyester bedding not as good as cotton. Rooms were in garden and car park of pub so could be noisy in summer if there’d were guests sitting outside
