A week of effortless relaxation in a stunning location - 5star to our butler, Mohamed! + We spent a wonderful week at the Fruit & Spice Hotel with friends, staying in a jungle villa. The accommodation reflects traditional architectural styles and, nestled near the forest, is surrounded by rich wildlife. Each evening, bush babies visited our terrace, and we frequently spotted red colobus monkeys nearby. The food was excellent—I especially recommend the catch of the day! Themed dinners with entertainment added a fun and memorable touch to our evenings. At low tide, we explored the shoreline and discovered starfish, sea urchins, and even octopuses in the shallow waters. The sunsets from the beach bar were absolutely stunning. With only a few guests at the hotel during our stay, we enjoyed peaceful moments by the pool and at the bar. A special thank-you goes to Mohamed, our butler, whose attentive care and warm hospitality truly made our vacation unforgettable. His exceptional service …

Master Class Experience + The Fruit & Spice Wellness Resort in Zanzibar is a true hidden gem, combining authentic island charm with discreet luxury. Nestled between the lush tropical forest and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, it offers the perfect setting for peace, relaxation, and indulgence. The resort is immaculately maintained, spotlessly clean, and remarkably calm, with numerous corners designed for relaxation — from lush gardens to serene lounges and ocean-view decks. Guests can also enjoy access to a vast private beach, ideal for unwinding in complete tranquility. Accommodation ranges from elegant rooms to private villas, some with their own pools, all designed with natural materials and a warm, authentic Zanzibari style. Every detail ensures both comfort and a strong sense of place. The dining experience is excellent, with restaurants serving a blend of local and international cuisine, complemented by a beach club where you can enjoy fresh seafood while watching t…

Highly recomended + Highly recommended! We had a wonderful experience in every aspect – the breathtaking views, the beach, the pool, the excellent food, and above all the amazing staff, who were always kind, helpful, and welcoming with a smile. Especially Ramson, our butler, who made our vacation truly perfect – always ready to assist, knowledgeable, professional, and caring.

Would recommend + We stayed here for 5 nights. It was a quiet and relaxing stay. Mohammed seen to our every need. All the staff were friendly and helpful. We used the spa, had an excellent treatment here. The food was great. Drinks and cocktails were great. We stayed in the jungle Villa which was beautiful. It never feels busy here as so many areas for guests to go and relax. Lots of different ocean front beach areas. The pool was excellent. Would recommend and would definitely stay again. Just what we needed after a busy safari!

Hidden Gem & African Luxury! + We stayed in one of the superior suites for two nights, and the whole place has this rustic, African style that puts you in the right frame of mind as soon as you arrive. Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and felt authentic without sacrificing any of the amenities you’d expect from a 5-star resort. We had breakfast and dinner during our stay, and even though the meals are buffet style, the food was genuinely excellent. The frozen strawberry daiquiris became a bit of a favourite. The grounds are another highlight. The gardens are kept beautifully, and there are all sorts of little quirky touches and corners to find as you wander around. There’s plenty of wildlife too, and the resident monkey made a few friendly appearances. The sun loungers are properly comfortable, and the sunset beach is a great place to wind down. Venson looked after us throughout the stay and did a brilliant job. We also caught the Wednesday evening entertainment in the bar…

Peaceful and Tranquil Holiday + 29th September- 8th October 2025 Room 204 We obtained our mandatory Zanzibar travel insurance and Tanzania Visa prior to departure. Obtaining the insurance was a good idea but those obtaining their visa in Zanzibar airport then went straight through immigration while we were parked in a long queue. It is clear that the Zanzibar authorities want you to obtain your visa in Zanzibar. If you like loud music & nightlife this resort is NOT for you. This is a beautiful hotel in tropical gardens with excellent food (THANK YOU Amour and your team!) and the most lovely staff we have ever met. We saw no mozzies during our 9 night stay. However I had a couple of bites which I think were from ants. The beach is clean white sand with no shortage of extremely comfortable shaded sunbeds. In fact sunbeds are freely available throughout the complex and all are very comfortable. Drink prices are reasonable. The Kilimanjaro beer is $4 for 500mls. There is…

A let down…….. + Absolutely stunning location, one of the best I’ve ever seen. However, the Hotels website is full of lies. There is no restaurant on the beach. There are not four pools. There is no cocktail bar. The service is mediocre at best. Many of the drinks listed on the menu are unavailable, no international beers, no cider. Wine is served in tiny plastic glasses, cold beer is rare. Inclusive Cocktails are local spirits only and limited. Premium spirits are extra cost. The main pool is of a great design but very dirty. The water is murky green, I dread to think what would happen if it was drunk. Lunchtime menu is à la carte only, same every day. Breakfast and evening buffet. Evening meals are very average, breakfasts are better. The staff generally don’t speak very good English and some are extremely slow and lack training. There appears to be no management structure, staff are un supervised and need help. It’s a shame, with a few tweaks, like scrapping the lunchtime a la cart…

Well-located, friendly hotel with plenty of wildlife + This large(ish) hotel has a quite "up-market" feel, yet it captures the spirit of Zanzibar nicely. It occupies a good location on the southwest Zanzibar coast, surrounded by trees and other vegetation and with miles of sandy beaches in both directions. There is no real opportunity to wander far outside the hotel, but the short walk to the hotel's private beach provides an additional dimension to the grounds of the hotel itself. Expect to stay in the hotel, unless you take an excursion or perhaps, wander down the beach a bit. Our (standard) room was spacious with a huge bed, storage areas, fridge and a decent-sized, easy-to-operate safe. The bathroom was equally spacious. The shower heat was mainly ok but (along with the basin tap) took a long time for hot water to come through and the temperature fluctuated at times. The flow wasn't very good. There was a nice seating area outside the room, overlooking trees and a swimming poo…

Unforgettable place to disconnect and relax + It was one of our best trips ever! If you want to disconnect from all the problems and fully recharge your batteries and still receive services on top level, this is the place to be! The hotel is very well preserved, clean with big territory for some walks, especially worth mentioning almost lack of insects in the room - really comfortable stay. The diversity and quality of food can meet absolutely anyone's preferences. But most importantly, the local people are so heart-warming and friendly, the staff is so attentive and helpful. Many thanks to all of them, especially Salome and the Reception team who were always there to support us with any administrative questions, to the whole gastronomic team (Peter, Mohammed, Amur and Mama Chef Fatima, in particular) who additionally organised a memorable cooking class of local exquisite delicacies - an incredible experience. Omar, and all the local tours crew, were just irreplaceable, especia…

Quiet and relaxing + We visited the resort for our 59th wedding anniversary, deliberately choosing a small, quiet resort, and were not disappointed. We virtually had the pool to ourselves! Each evening there was a "themed" dinner option, eg Mexican, Greek, Indian etc as well as plenty of other options of fish, pasta, various salads . all of which was very good indeed. Wednesday night the tables and cooking stations were set up round the pool with a guitarist and singer quietly in the background. Saturday evening dinner was served on the beach, which was really enjoyable. Included in our package was a romantic dinner for two on the beach - a five course seafood meal, with lobster, giant prawns, tempura prawns etc etc. Fabulous. The staff were delightful and very friendly and helpful. Any problems were dealt with very quickly (our air conditioning stopped twice but was fixed within minutes). Very little English was spoken by the staff, some people better than others, but Google tra…

Wonderful hotel with great personnel located in a beautiful bay + We stayed there almost three weeks with family in August/September 2024 but forgot to write review. It was such a perfect place. The management and personnel were doing an amazing service. Not only did they serve great food and the bungalows were just beautiful and clean all the time but they prepared a very special dinner for us with lobster, champagne and so many other delicious specials. They even built a tent just for this dinner for us by using palm branches - this took hours! Highly recommended hotel with a great management and wonderful service people!

Absolutely awful because of the food hygiene. I am literally going to stick to toast. I'm that concerned 😟 + Food is awful. Seriously awful. Everything else is paradise. Buffet is not refrigerated or even placed over a few ice cubes. Milk is luke warm. Plates of food left uncovered and literally crawling with flying insects. We are on our first full day here with a week to go. Quiet and isolated but only prepared to eat toasted bread, nowhere near for anywhere else to eat despite being on all inclusive. Seriously poor attitude to food hygiene.

Review of Fruit and Spice + My stay at Fruit and Spice Hotel in Zanzibar was truly unforgettable. I originally chose this hotel because of its private beach and the beautiful jungle that surrounds the property, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our trip. One of the most unique things about the hotel is its natural setting. The resort is nestled within lush tropical forest, and it feels like you are living in the middle of nature. During our stay, we were lucky enough to see monkeys moving through the trees and even bush babies at night, which made the experience feel really special and authentic to Zanzibar. The private beach was another highlight. It’s peaceful, clean, and far from the crowds you often find at other beaches on the island. It’s the perfect place to relax, swim, and enjoy the incredible views of the turquoise ocean. Something that really touched us was how the hotel cares for cats that have no home on the island. The cats are allowed to stay there…

Fantastic holiday + A Truly Special Stay at Fruit & Spice Wellness Resort We’ve just returned from an extended stay at this lovely hotel after being delayed due to the situation in the Middle East, and despite the stress of trying to get home, our time here was absolutely wonderful. The hotel itself is small, but that’s part of its charm. It feels intimate, peaceful, and beautifully cared for. The food is fantastic—local, authentic, and full of variety. A particular highlight was our meal at the seafood restaurant: lobster, prawns, and incredible flavours, all served by genuinely special people who made the evening memorable. The pool area is great, and the bar beside it is the perfect place to relax. The Sunset Bar, with its stunning views out to sea, became one of our favourite spots. Throughout the entire resort, the staff were faultless. Apologies for any spelling mistakes, but a huge thank you to Omar (chef), Omar (excursions), Alex (bar), Omzin (bar), all the restaurant staff…
