Ticked all the Boxes + We just returned back from a one week visit to this resort. Yes, it was filled with US College spring breakers because of the timing of the trip but it also had families looking for a simple getaway that ticked all the boxes. We had a great time…lots of sun, plenty of space at the beach and pools, and friendly staff. It wasn’t a long distance from the airport and the resort wasn’t too big so it was walkable for everyone and we trusted our kids to walk around unassisted. We also found the food at both buffets to be good and the 5 à la cartes were simple but a nice change from the buffets. I was initially worried about getting food sick but there was nothing to worry about at all (although I’m always amazed when people eat meat and cheese that have been sitting out for hours at any buffet). My kids (13 and 7) can be picky eaters and they always found something (they loved the freshly made custom crepes and pizza) and we never complained about being hungry. Beca…

Overall Best Hotel Team I’ve worked with in years + I recently stayed at this property for 10 days while chaperoning a group of students. I’ve stayed at many properties here in the Punta Cana area and can not say enough good things about the staff at this hotel. From the animation team to the front desk and groups department, bell boys and even the security- their team was always on point and ready to help.Even in situations of conflict, they were there to work with us and find a resolution that worked for everyone. I would def recommend this hotel for any large groups in the future and look forward to working with them again!

Do not recommend + Besides for a really nice beach . . . Had a leak in the ceiling that got pretty bad, pooling water in the closet and on the floor. Reported to front lobby. No one ever came to look at it. They have a drink menu, but none of the beers on it are available except for one and the bar staff doesn't know how to make the majority of the cocktails listed on it. They charge $20 for lost pool towels. Mine was stolen from our lounge chair the first day when we were a few feet away in the pool. Snack Bar food is absolutely disgusting. Buffet sanitation is very poor. With lack of tongs, many people were just using their hands! Reservation dinners weren't bad, except for last night at the Mexican restaurant. Food was great, but had to wait over an hour for our food and no one came to fill our water / ask us if we wanted more drinks during that time!

Worst hotel in my life. + A lot of noise near from our room. We did not sleep well all day. Manager sent the security but did not solve the problem.

Wendy and Hipolito + I just have to praise Wendy and Hipolito from the Royal Level à la carte restaurant. They were just exceptional. Wendy had my pot of hot water and jug of cold milk on the table before I even asked and both were such lovely souls. Had a great time and would definitely recommend Royal Level. The staff at the beach bar were wonderful too. In fact all the staff were.

Overall nice resort!! 😁 + This resort was overall a great resort! Maybe a heads up to the people who don’t travel a lot to alert us of spring breakers and times of which they would be booking. It made our stay a little uncomfortable because of noise sometimes and the lack of service because some staff at bars catered to them mostly. Made getting drinks a little hard for the most part. Also made à la cartes hard to sit and enjoy because of noise levels. I know spring breakers were there to have fun as well so we let most of it slide. Buffets were average and some à la cartes were tasty. Rooms were nice although a little dated and beds could use more comfortable pillows. We loved almost everything about this resort and will 100% be booking again. We now have learned when not to book for our next stay 😁

**Disappointing Experience – Not True “Royal Level” & Serious Health Incident** + I traveled to Punta Cana with my husband, teenage daughter, my son with special needs, and my parents in their mid-70s. We booked three *Royal Level* rooms expecting a higher standard of accommodations and service. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, the experience did not meet expectations. Upon check-in, we were informed that all three of our rooms would be located in Building 26, which was described as a “new” Royal section. However, this building is clearly not comparable to the actual Royal Level areas. It is far from the Royal restaurant and bars, and our rooms were spread out (two on the 3rd floor and one on the main floor), which was especially challenging given our family’s needs. **Room Issues:** * Room 26218: safe and coffee maker did not work, hole in the bathroom ceiling, hole in the wall where the hair dryer should be, chipped tiles, and a ceiling leak during rain. * Room 26215: pati…

READ THE REVIEWS - BE INFORMED + If you're reading the reviews, take note of the patronizing responses of the Occidental's manager, Orestes. All his responses follows the same theme: apologizing for your bad experience, thanking you for your compliments, and the catcher, inviting you to return. His managerial position is beyond his abilities because reading the 2026 reviews shows nothing has changed since my visit in 2025. His failure to bring this 3.5 star resort up to the 5 star level it's claimed to be is misleading to vacationers. The reviews about the food, the dwellings, the entertainment, the language barrier, the gift shop etc, etc are all true and then some.

Occidental Punta Cana + The resort was very beautiful and the grounds were very well maintained. We enjoyed eating at the restaurants, however, the buffets didn't have the best quality. The pools were amazing and they had entertainment for the kids, bounce houses, obstacle courses, foam party, etc. The rooms were nice but we felt that they always felt damp, the shower constantly leaked water. We were able to use the towels to put down to keep the floor dry (easy fix). Sadly we had an incident that occurred on the resort that required security. We felt that the resort took the situation very seriously and handled it with professionalism and empathy.

Nice Resort but lacks in a resort stay + Pool, rooms, atmosphere was good but the buffet lacked significantly based on other resorts I have been to. Breakfast and lunch needs upgrading but dinner at restaurants is a must. Also lacks service around pools. Every resort I have been to have people walking around taking drink orders and attending to you. I did not see one person doing this.

LOVED + Honeymooned here and it was Amazing. We were in the royal level and it's 100% worth it. The restaurant is amazing. The beach is so clean. Each night wasn't complete without an espresso martini in the first club with Yeraldin!! She was so friendly and her drinks were always THE BEST!!

This is the pace to go! + Wendy, Hipolito, Ederis, along with Pamela and Samuel at the bar, truly made this the best trip ever. From recognizing us right away to having our drinks ready as we approached, their attention to detail was exceptional. We absolutely love this place—and we especially love that Wendy is still here; he’s one of the main reasons we keep coming back!
