Not quite 5 star. No credit card difficult service + Checking in receptionist asked for credit card to charge 10,000 Thb £225.00 in case we did not pay for items from Mini bar and food etc. Declined this and said we always pay cash. They insisted that hotel does not usually make exceptions. Really shocked for a 5 star hotel and confused to the amount that they wanted to take automatically. Still declined and they then phoned G manager who authorised. If we agreed to have all items in mini bar removed. Absolutely shocking and lack of trust towards their guests. Have travelled and stayed in many 5 star properties around the world and never been treated in this manner. When they cleared the mini bar we had not even unpacked before they barged in the room and emptied it as quick as they could. Had asked for an additional bath robe as 3 people in the room, this was thrown down. Breakfast time had to get own tea and coffee out of machines. Tables left uncleared , we returned to table aft…

Would happily stay again + We stayed here for 3 nights and it was a wonderful experience. Staff were friendly, gym was great and the pool was fun. The bar served lovely cocktails and they had a conveniently timed happy hour! Worth a visit and reasonably priced also.

High end resort centrally located + The pool area, health club and overall facilities were well kept and welcoming. Great service and high end experience. − The family room view could be better (overlooked the parking). Breakfast was too pricey.

Special birthday in Chiang Mai + For our short holiday to celebrate my birthday, we went to Chiang Mai and thoroughly enjoyed our 5-night stay at the Shangi-la Chiang Mai. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was sumptuous. The highlight was returning from a day of shopping at one of the numerous artisans market to find the room transformed into a birthday celebration. It was so thoughtful of Shangri-la to go the extra step to make the day special. Thank you!

מלון מצוין. נהנינו מאד. מומלץ בחום ומתאים מאד לילדים + חדרים נהדרים. קיבלו שני חדרים עם דלת מקשרת וזה מצוין. ארוחת בוקר מצוינת. בריכה מהממת עם מגלשת מים ומים ג׳קוזי לילדים ומבוגרים. קרוב מאד לשוק הלילה - 8 דקות הליכה.

+ The staff were great. − The room had a musty smell that just shouldn't be there in a hotel of this quality. The executive lounge, which should be a place of calm in the evenings was often filled with the noise of children crying and generally being brats. I have nothing against children, I just want a place in the hotel where the people that pay for the rooms can have some peace. There's a kids club, give us an adult's club.

Déçu − La piscine trop petite et ne donne pas envie de nager dedans, les meubles trop vieillots de la réception ainsi que des chambres, la nourriture pas très bonne et pas assez de restaurant, l hôtel doit être rénové et modernisé

No longer a 5 star hotel, neglected and focused on conference and tour groups + Large comfortable room but totally overlooked by huge apartment block Daily fruit Wide offer in main breakfast restaurant but it gets overcrowded Kim and Wade deserve praise in the restaurant − The hotel has had its day. The garden is ruined by the 100s of neighbouring apartments Neglected pool area - rusting slide, broken concrete and some umbrellas mouldy and torn Horizon club staff allow complete breaks of the rules - guests stuffing their bags with drink, guests brining in their own food and wearing inappropriate clothing Food offer in the club exceptionally poor - food unimaginative, bland, cold , lacking any sort of dressing, too meat focused Our experience was so poor we cancelled our planned stay at the Shangri la in Bangkok
