Lovely stay. Thank you. + Perfect location…just steps away from the train station. Lovely historic property that has undergone some very nice renovations, with more to come. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with modern as well as traditional amenities. No iron or fridge in my room, but I didn’t miss them. There is no lift, but I received cheerful help with my bags up the stairs. Staff was warm and welcoming…if not ever present.

Don't go there! − First of all the car park is a lie. They don't have one, I was told to park in a nearby nhs clinic car park. Secondly there was no receptionist. There is a sign to find someone to help in the bar which was very busy serving drinks before I was able to check in. There was no lift, the building is very old with poor infrastructure. I had a family room which was reasonably wide but very poor ventilation, terrible view from small window. Surfaces were dusty, I saw hair remnant on the floor. No tap mixer. The place was very hot without even a fan. And finally there was no network signal or a WiFi. I complained about it, they spent 30 min trying to fix it and after failure they offered me a downgrade to a single small room with no price compensation. I had to accept because I needed Internet for important online meeting.

Very good value for money hotel in a good location and we would stay again. + The hotel looks a bit run-down from the outside, however our room had been updated to modern standards and was spotless and comfortable. The beds were comfy, the bathroom was clean and we had everything we needed for a family of 4, including TV, wifi, kettle and complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits. The staff were friendly and helpful too. The location is very central and restaurants and cafes are only 1-2 minutes walk away; there is also a large Tesco a short walk away.

+ The area, we had gone to a wedding in Gretna. Ideal location. The rooms were basic but very comfortable.

Yearly trip. + Location was good for where we were going. The evening meal was excellent. We had the steak pie which was really lovely. The staff are friendly. This is the second year I have stayed and I will be back next year. − The breakfast was not as good as last years. There seemed to be less choice. The double room I was in needed a plug in the sink and also the air conditioning in the bathroom took a long time to stop after the light was switched off.

+ Helpful staff, comfortable room and good breakfast. Good value for money. − Shower room, while fully functional, was past its best and could do with redecorating and renovation.

Wonderful stay + I had an excellent stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it. The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the shower was absolutely wonderful – one of the best I've experienced in a hotel. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice, and the staff were all incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my stay. A special mention must go to the chef, who did a fantastic job and made breakfast particularly enjoyable. Thank you to everyone for such a pleasant stay. I would definitely return in the future.

A delight to stay here. And at a reasonable price. What more could anyone want. + Family room was spacious, like a mini suite, exceptionally clean, very comfortable, quiet, light and airy. Check-in simple. Lovely snug front bar and comfy lounge bar. Excellent Sunday roast that was great value. They even let us park our motorcycles in a covered garage area at the rear of the hotel, all included in the price. Location in the centre of town allowed for an after-dinner walk about and stop off at a friendly local pub round the corner. − There was nothing to dislike. It could not have been any better and all at a reasonable price

Well located & thanks for making room for our motorbikes in the ga + We arrived in the middle of a very wet day so 1st impression externally were not great. But once in & dry the rooms although small were perfectly good. Good bar & excellent food. − Would have like a better selection of hot breakfast options. Having said that the full Scottish was very nice.
