Cute, rustic, not our vibe + We stayed one night at the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel. This stay was part of an extensive private (two couples) tour of Peru, which was arranged by a luxury touring company. We had really wanted to stay overnight at Sanctuary, as we were planning on visiting Machu Picchu on an afternoon and also the following morning. However, our tour company told us that the Sanctuary rooms were small and overpriced, and (more concerning) because of some unsettled lease conflicts with the government of Peru, booking rooms at Sanctuary was not advised and we should book at Inkaterra instead. We stayed in junior suites. We dropped off our luggage and had an excellent lunch at the restaurant before heading up to Machu Picchu with our guide. We came back around 6:00 pm or so to officially check in, then had dinner at the restaurant, went to bed, were up very early to grab a minimal breakfast, checked out, and went back up to Machu Picchu. The hotel kept our lugga…

High end hotel price for a hostel experience. Unable to understand how it holds a michellin key. + Only good thing about the hotel is the privileged location and multi-acre property it sits in. With better management this could be one of the best nature lodges in the country. − Staff is unwilling to assist with issues to improve customers comfort. Situation #1: Stayed there the night prior to our hike up to Machu Picchu mountain. Me and my partner decided to book the best rated hotel in town ($550 USD/night) looking for a good rest prior to a long day. The walls are thin enough were you can hear everything outside your room, such us the music from the staff inside the restaurant kitchen (located 100 feet away). The "property" cat yowling made sleep impossible all night ( Other guests experienced the same issue). Tried to call the lobby multiple times through the night without response. It appears that the staff that works the night shift was also asleep. We ended up leaving for ou…

Great experience thanks to Nicolas + A few things to keep in mind when booking this place 1. It’s in a jungle, so expect some degree of bugs. Our first day we were greeted with a fairly large spider above our bed, but the staff professionally and kindly took care of it (it was too high for us to reach and take care on our own). 2. It’s an oasis from the chaos of Aguas callientes. I loved returning to our corner of the town, and enjoying the peace and quiet. I think that alone justifies the price of the hotel. 3. I don’t necessarily think it is outright a 5 star hotel. The service and the surrounding area make it seem so, but the rooms themselves are not over the top. I would also like to give a high shout out to Nicolas for being so kind and giving us great recommendations during our stay. He went above and beyond ensuring we were taken care of. I would stay here again.

Comfortable hotel, beautiful gardens, excellent location! + We had an overnight stay here to visit Machu Picchu. We arrived by train from Ollantaytambo. Our room was not ready so we left our bags and went for a walk through their extensive grounds/gardens which was lovely. We saw lots of hummingbirds while sitting by the pool area. We met our guide for our first Circuit (2B) of Machu Picchu. We had booked a Superior room (including dinner and breakfast box as we had a 6am entry to MP the next morning). Our room was comfortable and clean. Dinner at the hotel restaurant (separate from the hotel and you have to walk across the train line which is no real trouble) was good. They held our bags following checkout and until our train to Cusco the next afternoon. The hotel is minutes walk to the train station and bus to the Machu Picchu site. Plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops around it. We completed Circuits 2B, 1B and 3B of Machu Picchu - all very worthwhile for this once in …

Outdated and too expensive. + Rather outdated with a very old-fashioned atmosphere. Very outdated restaurant. Extremely touristic. Look for alternatives for this budget.

An experience that fell far short of what we paid for + The hotel is located in a beautiful setting surrounded by nature and enjoys a very convenient location within the city, right next to the train station. It is also clean. Unfortunately, the positive aspects end there. − There were several serious issues that, in our opinion, make the room rates completely unjustified. Construction work is currently taking place at the hotel, with drilling noise audible throughout the day. Guests should be informed of this in advance so they can decide whether they still wish to proceed with their reservation. Furthermore, a substantial discount should be offered given the disturbance caused. The food quality was unacceptable and fell far below the standards expected from a hotel in this price range. The staff we encountered in the common areas of the hotel were rude and unfriendly. We have stayed in many hotels and have never experienced such poor customer service. The pool was not clean and ap…

Extremely disappointing experience – safety issues, poor service and no response from management + My wife and I stayed at Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel for one night (June 6–7, 2026) after completing the Inca Trail. At over USD 518 for one night, this was by far the most expensive hotel of our five-week trip through Peru. Unfortunately, it was also by far the biggest disappointment. The problems started immediately after arriving. Our room had no bathrobes, and the telephone was not working, making it impossible to contact reception. I tried several phone numbers I found online, but nobody answered. Only after stopping a hotel employee who happened to walk past our bungalow were bathrobes eventually delivered and the telephone repaired. The most serious incident happened when I entered the shower. I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my foot and realized I had stepped on broken glass that had been left on the bathroom floor. My foot started bleeding immediately. Hotel staff treate…

Bug bites all over. Hygiene concerns + The staff are very helpful. Free tours. Really good restaurants. − There are hygiene issues with the facilities. We had bug bites all over the body after the stay. As we used room, pool, sauna, and massage facilities, it’s hard to tell where we got the bug bites. But as a five star hotel, this should not happen.

+ Traditional building − Spa opening hours not acceptable for this room price. Canteen like restaurant.. more like mass tourism.

Personnel adorable. − Rien.
