Excellent location + We stayed here for a long weekend with friends. I chose this hotel for the location and I’m glad I did. It’s a short walk to the 911 Memorial, the Mercer experience, and Battery Park and it’s an easy subway ride to Broadway and Times Square. We felt completely safe walking around late at night. I appreciate that it’s in a quiet area. It was great to get out of the shoulder to shoulder people and horrendous traffic. I love New York but sometimes it can be a bit much and it’s great to Decompress and this area is great for that. The hotel is a bit dated but who cares. It was clean and the beds were gloriously comfortable after a long day. We did not eat at either restaurant but we did have a cocktail in the rooftop lounge. The cocktails were amazing! They were on the expensive side. $57.00 for two drinks before gratuity. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Room not ready, given a different room than we reserved + This is tough, because the hotel staff really tried. We booked a room with a really beautiful view of Ground Zero. However, when we got to the hotel, the room was not ready, due to a very late check out, and would not be ready until almost 7pm. So for the first night we were offered a room on a lower floor and were given a complementary breakfast for the next day. I did not want to be “that guy” so we accepted that. The room they gave us for the second and third night was supposedly a higher price because it had its own private terrace. But instead of a full view of Ground Zero, we had a partial view of Ground Zero and a full view of a construction site. The staff did the best they could, but at the end of the day, it was a somewhat disappointing experience.

Perfect location in Lower Manhattan + We needed one night between JFK and EWR so the location was ideal. It takes around 1 hour to each airport. The train station from which you can take a train to EWR is just a few minutes away. The USB converter was a nice surprise, as we had only one US charger. Very clean and comfortable beds.

Comfortable, cozy, quiet. I also liked where the room was located. Peaceful and tranquil. + Cozy room with small kitchen. Gave a homey feel and comfort to me. − Poor view and late check in. I made reservations and room wasn’t ready upon my arrival. 1hr wait for room.

Sofa bed should not be marketed as such. Utilitarian place. + Very well located if you enjoy the quieter downtown /Fido area over the bustling midtown. The staff is friendly. The hotel is a bit utilitarian. Nothing fancy. Just the basics. I liked the water machine and the free coffee in the lobby. BUT We paid for a room with a King bed and a sofa bed. The sofa bed was an absolute disgrace: the mattress was a 2” think foam roll and all the springs poked right through it. It was saggy and painful and I had 3 terrible nights of no to little sleep. The drains in the room weren’t working very well either. Overall I liked the location a lot but the rest not so much. I understand NYC pricing but for a little more you can have luxury instead of … this.
