Disappointing! + Disappointing! Needs Improvement! Our short stay at this property was disappointing for several valid reasons. The first annoying factor is the deception of a Junior Suite having no lounge access. This was clarified as having access on the social media, since modified I observe, though I still have the original information for the record. Without any transparency of no lounge inclusion provided for our suite room, we headed to the Skylounge on the 19th floor. We were just initially stared at in silence by one of the staff members, and further as I prompted an approach by the other unsmiling, unfriendly staff member questioned if it is afternoon tea, having observed the elaborate circular food decoration in the expansive lounge completely devoid of any guests. We were told in Indonesian that this is a paid in lounge at a rate of IDR 200k per per person, we then asked as we were staying in a suite room we were under the clear impression that it was inclusive. + The room was nice and there was a good view. The dinner restaurants were okay. The staff was very friendly and helped us organise a Mount Bromo tour which was very enjoyable. − There were a lot of ants in the bedroom even though we were on the 7th floor. The breakfast had a lot of options but not really good European variety.

A perfect experience in Malang + An amazing hotel with so many activities and excellent services. The breakfast and restaurant are outstanding. The prices are slightly higher than average for Indonesia, but they are absolutely worth it because of the quality, generous portions, and overall dining experience. The staff were simply perfect,friendly,professional, and always ready to help. We only stayed for three nights due to our travel itinerary, but when we return to Indonesia, we will definitely stay here again. The hotel also organized our Mount Bromo tour. We had a small misunderstanding, but the hotel handled the situation in an impeccable way. They genuinely cared about making sure we were satisfied and went above and beyond to resolve everything. We also requested an express laundry service at the last minute before our early departure, and the staff arranged it without any problems. Very good + Mooi hotel, goed eten, vriendelijk personeel − Omgeving is erg druk om het hotel heel, kan het hotel niks aan doen maar hierdoor kan je niet makkelijk zelf op stap gaan en moet je altijd een taxi pakken.

+ Zeer ruime, mooie kamers met alle nodige comfort. − Het design van het hotel was niet ons ding, de lobby weerspiegelt naar onze mening niet een een 5-sterren hotel, het leek eerder een ontwerp voor een shopping mall en oogt ook rommelig. Ligt ver weg van het oude centrum.

+ I had a wonderful stay at Grand Mercure Malang! The staff were incredibly friendly and the service was truly excellent—everyone made us feel very welcome. The facilities and atmosphere were top-notch. My only small suggestion for improvement would be to work on the towel softness and ensure they have that fresh, clean scent. Overall, a fantastic experience and I would definitely recommend staying here.

Overall a nice place to stay + The hotel is quite clean and staff is friendly. Pool facility was good and well maintained. Breakfast is full of local food. − Vegetarian options were limited in breakfast and has lot of scope for improvement and upgrade the variety of food.
