Nice but pricey + It's a beautiful hotel and all perfectly nice, but value for money wasn't great. The most expensive place we stayed at and not necessarily the best. One drawback is everything is so far from everything else, you need five minutes to walk to breakfast or the parking lot. No shortcuts anywhere.

+ Lovely property. Highly recommend.

+ Lovely and unique stay. Easy driving proximity to the town of Evora. We expected this to be more of an adults hotel but there were a lot of families here

+ The hotel is beautiful and maintains the elegance and history of the property in every space, both on the inside as well as the grounds outside. I loved walking around the garden and just exploring the area around the hotel.

Fine but not special + Breakfast was poor, hot food wasn't and not great selection. Dinner in restaurant generally very good. Rooms pleasant and very clean.

+ We had trouble finding our room. Better signage is needed. More dining options! Better bar menu. Seemed understaffed.

+ Everything about this place is wonderful. The building, the history, the peace, the service.

Horrible waste of money + This hotel is so dated, the rooms ugly and massively overpriced. Everything is tired, stained and poorly maintained. I think it only gets decent reviews because it’s full of elderly people that don’t mind how tired the place is.

+ Amazing hotel that couldn't be better. Beautiful inside and out. Spacious and well appointed room (we stayed in a new room). Wonderful breakfast and dinner, fabulous staff. Would highly recommend.

+ Beautiful place, excellent staff, a truly memorable stay. Only downside was that one restaurant was closed and the other booked up very early. Food is available in the bar but it is very noisy there. Room service was available, so not a big issue.

+ The hotel is beautiful and historic. It has some lovely public spaces if you could enjoy them without crowds from tour buses. This was a minus from the check-in experience to mealtime to noise and crowds. We were upgraded to our room, and it was a VERY LONG walk. The room was a suite and there were attempts to make it nice but it missed in several ways. The whirlpool tub area was difficult to get into and use comfortably. The TV at the foot of the bed couldn't be used - there was 1 remote - and it controlled the TV in the sitting area. We had to sit uncomfortably in chairs to watch TV vs. laying in bed as desired. I asked for some ice for an injury and was charged 7 euros....crazy. Meal times were very busy and dinner at Divinus very disappointing. Unfriendly service which was slow and rude. Food was lukewarm and poorly presented (4 large piles of peas on pea puree looked like a child did it). This was not the top dining experience advertised. Additionally, the hotel cha…

+ Absolutely spectacular. My parents stayed in the old part and adored it. We were in the newer section and it was also perfect. So comfortable. The amenities and staff were delightful. Absolutely worth the visit.

Luxury, History and a Full sized Church + Here you can experience long ago history, modern rooms and wonderful grounds. AND a full sized church from the original monastery (convento) is inside the hotel! Our room and bathroom were nicely sized with a comfortable bed and a nice view of the gardens. Getting around the different areas of the hotel can involve lengthy, circuitous walks but is probably due to having to build around parts of the old monastery. There is a very good restaurant and a full buffet breakfast. We were with a tour group and our coach took us to Evora. You will need a car/taxi otherwise because the town is too far away and the roads would be dangerous for walking.

Awesome property, well maintained + Beautiful hotel, expansive grounds. Atmospheric surroundings, an old convent/monastery converted into a modern hotel with full service. Two restaurants on the premises, besides a bar. Lovely to explore the premises; quiet little cathedral, a royal library, olive and orange trees in the garden. Our room had a balcony overlooking the peaceful gardens, with rows of olive trees. Breakfast was good; eggs made to order, cold cuts, fruit, juices, coffee. It’s situated about 10 minutes by car, from Evora city. Spend the day sightseeing and come back to a very comfortable room. Will definitely spend more days here, next time we visit.

Unique Settings & Great Staff make for a Special Stay + We recently spent a couple of nights at the Convento seeking out a change of scene and some slightly warmer weather in Winter and had a really great time - the hotel's blend of its old and new parts really makes it a special place to stay. We turned up a little early to this hotel but the reception staff were super friendly, helped us find lunch in the bar which was good and then checked us into our "Design" room in the newer part of the building which we really liked - lots of space in the well appointed room, a balcony to look out over the garden and a decent bathroom. At check-in, we were also invited to a wine-tasting and a tour of the building and both were very good - the building's chapel, restaurant, wine-bar, etc. are amazing and would form a tourist attraction in their own right. We ate in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner and enjoyed both - the food was good and the service both attentive and relaxed and …
