+ We enjoyed cocktails in the bar looking over the view and the sushi was excellent. We liked the fruit sticks given every afternoon by the pool attendant. − Gym was small and hot They offer a tour of the nature reserve every afternoon but in the wet season this is just standing by the macaws cage and learning about them whether it is wet or dry.

Wonderful Experience! + What an absolute pleasure! From the moment you check in and they ask you which fragrance is your preference for the shampoo and soap, you know you’re in for a great experience. Then they set up a WhatsApp chat with your concierge to assist you in anything that you require. The rooms were clean and nice. The staff was exceptional. Three nice pools to cool off. Great food. Even the owner, Boris, introduced himself and gave his personal extension if we needed anything. Just a super nice experience overall. Highly recommend.

Expect 4 stars with great views and it will be fine + The staff were all great and view from the top deck was amazing at sunset. The issue for us was that we had expected luxury 5 star, and the standard just didn’t meet those expectations. − The property was tired in many areas, the pool was not anywhere near as attractive as the photos, the top bar area was not anywhere near 5 star standards. We left after one night as it just wasn’t up to par for our honeymoon.

A very unique, amazing hotel with incredible service! + We stayed at Gaia Hotel in Manuel Antonio for 5 days. We had a great time at this hotel and very much enjoyed the beautiful setting in a nature preserve. The hotel is very different but in a good way and the service here is top notch! All the employees are extremely helpful, courteous and super welcoming and nice. The restaurant is really good and we ate an amazing breakfast every morning. The hotel rooms are also really nice as are the pools and the property overall. They have a very efficient system of coordinating your itinerary and the concierge is always available through WhatsApp to help with anything you need. I can tell you that this hotel has a great vibe and definitely is a place we would return to in the future. We saw wildlife while on the property including macaws, sloths and monkeys. Do not stay here if your looking for a comfortable or romantic stay + Please be aware before booking that this resort does not feel like a five-star resort. We have stayed at many five-star resorts, as well as several other hotels and Airbnbs throughout Costa Rica on this trip, and all of them exceeded this “luxury resort.” We were immediately unimpressed with the rooms, which felt very outdated. The owner often describes them as a German Bauhaus design, but this is the same design the property opened with in 2009 and appears to have seen little updating since. Referencing a particular design style with rooms not meaningfully upgraded for 20 years feels like an excuse rather than a justification. The biggest issue was the amount of bugs and wildlife in the room. We understand Costa Rica is tropical, but we encountered numerous bugs, multiple lizards, and even found bugs in our bed on more than one occasion. Truly a 5-star gem tucked in a beautiful rainforest + I came from California with my daughter for her HS graduation trip. We were a bit anxious traveling just us girls to another country, but were treated with such warmth and welcome from the staff of Gaia Hotel and Nature Reserve we immediately felt at ease. I really cannot say enough praise for this incredible staff that Gaia Hotel has put together - from front desk, bellhop, kitchen staff, and especially our concierge Ada Martinez. Ada Martinez was available by Whatsapp to coordinated all of our reservations, setup drivers, even call the pharmacy at 8pm to coordinate an emergency antihistamine delivery for a nasty bug bite. The food was delicious at La Luna. Service was excellent. Anthony Lopez even set up a table for us in the corner for us to relax and charge devices (5 hours before our flight after check out). I had the pleasure of having Stephany as my personal concierge. She was exceptionally friendly, attentive, professional, and made my stay even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. The only recommendation I would make concerns the hotel’s credit card policy. During check-in, the hotel took photos of both the front and back of my credit card using a cellphone, capturing all of the card’s sensitive information, including the CVC security code. From a security and privacy standpoint, I do not believe this is an appropriate practice. Most hotels around the world simply authorize a security deposit or place a pre-authorization (hold) on the card, which is then finalized or released at check-out. Wonderful + We stayed for 6 nights on the last leg of our Costa Rica adventure. The hotel is situated half way between Manuel Antonio and Quepos. It is high in the forest and golf buggies take you from the secure reception up steep paths to the hotel. The views are therefore stunning, with rooms, restaurant and pool overlooking lush forest to the sea beyond. Amazing sunsets and plenty of wildlife, spider monkeys and red macaws, frolicking and roosting in the grounds. Our suite was huge with beautiful bed linen and pillows like clouds. I liked that you could choose from three branded toiletries. There was a good selection for breakfast all served beautifully presented to your table. Evening meal and cocktails delicious too. All the staff were friendly and attentive with special thanks to Tony, Rikardo and Andres who went above and beyond. Practical Guide to Gaia + Gaia hotel Your Practical Guide to Gaia Hotel Gaia is the best hotel in the Manuel Antonio area. Have I been to every other hotel? No. But I will tell you why Gaia is the best below, as well has practical insight to inform your stay. We loved our time here so much that we extended our 8 day trip to 10 because we didn’t want to leave! Travel dates: June 17-27, 2026 Before you go: Cash: I recommend getting many small bills for tips ($1s and $5s USD). The money can’t be torn or it won’t be accepted. Many places don’t allow you to tip on the credit card receipt and only allow cash tips. Gaia and their restaurant (La Luna) does allow tips to be added receipts. Packing: items I found useful to have include: water shoes with traction/sturdy bottom; close toed shoes that can get muddy; long sleeve sun shirt; long sleeve water shirt; floppy hat with a string to secure it to your head; sunglasses; sunblock; bug protection lotion (not spray). This boutique property is a peaceful oasis tucked away in the heart of Manuel Antonio. With only 22 rooms, the experience feels intimate and personalized, and my husband and I truly felt pampered throughout our stay. Every member of the staff greeted us with genuine kindness and professionalism. They consistently went above and beyond to make our visit special. Whether it was Abraham greeting us with a smile and pulling out my chair at La Luna Restaurant or Oscar patiently answering all of our questions through the concierge, we always felt genuinely cared for. The accommodations were spotless, beautifully updated, and incredibly comfortable. The grounds were impeccably maintained, creating the feeling of a lush tropical paradise. If you’re looking for luxury, exceptional service, and breathtaking surroundings, we couldn’t recommend the Gaia Hotel more highly.

Wonderful Experience + Loved the friendly staff and amazing excursions offered by the Gaia Hotel. Truly amazing experience with delicious food! Clarence gave us a wonderful tour of the nature reserve and the Manuel Antonio National Park, helping us identify over 20 different animals. He was a wonderful tour guide with great knowledge about the species and local native and non-native plants/animals. We highly recommend him!

Beautiful surroundings, fantastic food, lovely pools, excellent service + We had a really lovely stay at GAIA and overall had a great experience. The team were very responsive and helpful throughout our stay, and having a concierge service was particularly useful. Johansy was always quick to respond to our WhatsApp messages and helped us with any questions or arrangements we had. One of the absolute highlights was the food at La Luna Restaurant. The quality was exceptional and genuinely exceeded our expectations - some of the best food we had during our trip. We were really blown away by how good it was. Our room was very comfortable, the air conditioning worked really well, and the housekeeping service was excellent. We also really liked the small touch of being able to choose our preferred shampoo, shower gel or moisturising cream.
