Excellent all round, highly recommend + Fab location close to an unexpected and amazing find in Byland Abbey just walking distance from the property. Didn’t get the chance to sample the yummy looking dinner menu but enjoyed an excellent ginger mocktail. Very friendly, helpful man running the place. − Not their fault but room a bit warm in this sunny weather. But not a big issue.

Enjoyed our stay for a special birthday.only issue was the shower and the room could of had a fan in the room as it was + Excellent meals and good location − Shower in room very poor. Plumbing needs addressing. Could easily scald yourself. You had to turn on sink taps to regulate the temperature in the shower.

Delightful short break in North Yorkshire, perfect surroundings, location, staff exceptional. + Superb dinner, special mention to Fee, an absolute asset to the property, and a brilliant dessert chef! − No shampoo dish in the shower

Wonderful hosts and lovely place to dine & stay (eat the chocolate tart!) + Lovely, comfortable room, friendly, welcoming staff at all times. Excellent range of drinks on the bar and our evening meal was superb! Well cooked breakfast and good coffee (caf & decaf). Love the decor and quirky walls. It all made our anniversary stay very special. − The only thing, comfort wise, was the shower room was a bit small but even so, it was well laid out and there was a great shower with plenty of hot water and quality toiletries. There's nothing the hotel could have done to alter that , so not a fault!

Apart from the shower everything was excellent. + All went well. Room excellent, food excellent, staff very friendly. − Shower head could of done with being changed as struggled to have. a decent shower.

Adequate, but breakfast timing too late. − The fact that included breakfast wasn't available as we had an early start (8:00). Our normal expectation is that breakfast would start at 7 (perhaps with the exception of weekends). We were told 8:50 (or did he say 8:30).
