+ Staff was very nice. The room was quiet. − The beds are horridly uncomfortable. There was hair from a previous guest in the bathtub.

Thanks for taking care of family + I brought my grandfather to the Royal Oak from Sunday July 19-Wednesday July 22 he stayed in room 128. I want to compliment Paige who’s bartends and is front desk attendant. My grandpa had some struggles with TV as far as the streaming. She was very helpful and accommodating. Thank You to your staffs help. Any of my family will stay there in the future.

Misleading, but still kinda cute + The design of the place was quirky and fun. − Their entire lobby is a bar, so it's confusing when you're trying to check in because the bar tender is also the manager on duty or representative of the hotel. You have to walk up to the bar to get your room keys, etc. The price, the name "hotel," and the slightly misleading photography on booking.com made me think that we were getting something of higher quality. I would have had proper expectations if it were listed as a motel or a hostel. There was a TV provided, but you had to bring your own subscriptions to use streaming services. The "blazing fast" internet was down the first night we were there, but we never found the wifi password anyway. It has that distinct "motel smell." Doesn't come with basic necessities like a coffee pot, hot plate, or microwave. The pillows were thin and cheap, and there were an odd number (3) for two people. Decent for a one night stopover, not a longer term stay + It was a good location, easy to get to Royal Oak or Ferndale − The entire property smelled like cigarette smoke, the bathroom was dirty and didn’t even have hand soap, the property overall felt dirty and run down

+ The room was good and what we expected overall. The decor was very unique and fun. The staff was fantastic. Everyone was nice, helpful and seemed happy to be there. The extras, such as the pool room and bar were fun. The location was also great; we were within walking distance of everything on main street. We hardly needed to use our car unless we were going into Detroit. − The AC was loud and the cool air was forced across the head of the bed. I had to keep adjusting the volume of the television every time the AC cycled.
