Convenient Location and lovely old + The location was ideal for exploring Ludlow. The hotel is right in the heart of the town centre and a short walk from the castle and the thriving food culture. − Room 252 (£230 per night). Some may be put off by the noise from the pub across the road that opens till the wee hours of the morning. Please note, your room isn’t serviced unless you ask reception to service it and then you have to specify exactly what you require. On arrival our room was not very clean. The floor hadn’t been hoovered, cobwebs on the curtain pelmets etc. Facilities wise, the WiFi was great but the mattress was very soft and pillows were uncomfortable and all were beyond their serviceable life (despite there being 6 to choose from). The room lacked any cushions and soft furnishings to make it feel homely /comfortable. The seat booths we were sat in at breakfast had previous diners food on the seats. Cleaning regime just needs to be upgraded. We had exceptional ser…

Not overwhelmed with the stay + Didn't have breakfast − Television not working due to flat battery in the remote control. Initially charged us for a meal we didnt have.

Atmospheric ancient inn situated in the centre of town + Very atmospheric hotel with lots of fascinating history. Wonderful building. The breakfast was good. − The hotel being very ancient, our bedroom (Classic Queen room) was cramped, although the bathroom was quite spacious. We had to put a bag down in front of the exit as there was nowhere else to put it (apart from the bathroom!). It was a warm night and there was a fan, but we were too hot to sleep well. The mattress was comfortable to lie on, but the edges were soft, so it would be fine for someone on their own but with two, it was easy to roll out. I was worried about leaving the window open as it was accessible from the nearby fire escape. Our friend and I both had undercooked cod for dinner, so we could only eat the outside of it, but when we raised this, they apologised and we were given a discount on the meal. I would stay again, but not in that type of room.

Enjoyed Ludlow very much the Castle the Church lots of little shops and some nice restaurants. + Breakfast was very good always hot and a good selection. Location very good. − Only thing which we weren’t happy with was the tables in the dining room always felt very sticky even though they were wiped.

Brilliant + Very old property that is beautifully kept original and clean. Some people might say that the floors creak, all I say is if you were 400 years old you would creak. It’s part of the charm. − Nothing

Really interesting hotel, comfortable room - ask about stairs! + Fascinating historic hotel, well modernised in appropriate style. Comfortable smart room with good bathroom and amenities. Very nice dinner, continental breakfast choice was a bit disappointing for hotel of this quality. Good choice of cooked breakfast to order. Friendly staff, On site parking (limited). − No warning that despite a lift, there were still a lot of stairs to navigate to our room due to the nature of the building. Since we had previously asked about Blue Badge parking, this was a surprise. Reception Louise apologised profusely and did her best to help.and

Nice break in the centre of town and close to all amenities + Breakfast good. Selection of fruit cereal etc. Hot food served to order. Service quick. Staff friendly. Restaurant food good. − Tight parking. Once parked didn't dare leave for the day in case you couldn't get parked up again. Entrance particularly tight but can blame the hotel for that

Our stay was just ok.... + The hotel has nice character and the staff were friendly. The location is good and is literally in the town. − Unfortunately, our room had a slight sewage smell (which staff were very helpful with and gave us free drinks for our troubles as there were no free rooms). The room was very hot. Breakfast was just ok. Generally the hotel was ok, but I would say it is more a nice 3 star than 4 star.
