+ It was a complete forest retreat that was beautiful in autumn. They have a few trails you can walk from the entrance and they’re all easy. You can even see deers and raccoons from the main hall in the evening The staff were also very quick and helpful with translations. − Wished there was a shower nearer to our room, but that might be unavoidable given the traditional layout of onsen hotels.

Wonderful Forest Gem + Staying at Moritsubetsu was one of our highlights during our five week holiday in Japan. This quaint, traditional little inn was within walking distance to the beautiful forest bathing areas nearby and within driving distance to Akan Mashu. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the common areas were warm and welcoming. The rooms were clean, and the beds comfortable. The meals were outstanding. We felt so spoiled staying in this little gem in the forest. We stayed two nights, and wished we could have stayed longer. − Everything was wonderful!
