+ It was a complete forest retreat that was beautiful in autumn. They have a few trails you can walk from the entrance and they’re all easy. You can even see deers and raccoons from the main hall in the evening The staff were also very quick and helpful with translations. − Wished there was a shower nearer to our room, but that might be unavoidable given the traditional layout of onsen hotels.

Wonderful Forest Gem + Staying at Moritsubetsu was one of our highlights during our five week holiday in Japan. This quaint, traditional little inn was within walking distance to the beautiful forest bathing areas nearby and within driving distance to Akan Mashu. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the common areas were warm and welcoming. The rooms were clean, and the beds comfortable. The meals were outstanding. We felt so spoiled staying in this little gem in the forest. We stayed two nights, and wished we could have stayed longer. − Everything was wonderful!

Amazing stay and food, definitely recommended! + Amazind dinner a la carte, but the strong point is the breakfast, is buffet with a lot of choices. The room was clean and the private onsen a very gem! Thanks for the staff, they were all extremely friendly even if they didn't speak english − The room was very clean but bare in mind there is no shower in the room, just toilet and sink.

It was a great location but too expensive for what you got + Location room and onsen − The cost was too high really and having to order dinner before we got there.

+ Great little hotel lost in the middle of the woods, with a nice onsen. Comfortable room, and nice traditional restaurant. 100% worth the drive − If you book dinner with the room, last seating takes place at 6:30, which is a bit early

A beautiful hidden gem surrounded by greenery + The room was nice and clean and the accommodation itself was very comfortable and welcoming. The overall atmosphere was very calm. The kimonos available for wearing during the stay were a nice touch. The onsen, especially the one outside, was magic. Also, the breakfast buffet was amazing! We really appreciated the location which enabled us to explore the Mashu NP. Overall, a perfect choice for our first two nights in Japan. Thank you for a lovely stay!
