Would gladly come back :) + Lovely hosts and great food! Nice place to relax. Between our stays at Koh Rong Sanloem and Ko ta Kiev, our time at Koh Thmei was the best. Well run place with great activities. Also very friendly animals (including a poney!) − Nothing

This is paradise + Kavita and Michael have created a little tropical commune on this (essentially) uninhabited island. This is a place for slowing down and taking a break from your self. All your troubles disappear as soon as you step on the boat which takes you to the resort in 1hr from the mainland along unspoilt blue waters. No internet reception, just the sea, books and games, exceptional tropical cocktails, delicious food, spending time petting the many resident animals and making new friends. Michael’s evening soundtrack in the bar (90s/00s CD collection) is pure nostalgia. Do not miss the snorkelling trip off the coast of an uninhabited nearby island, the most unspoilt coral I’ve seen in the region. We will return. − Nothing.

relax relax relax + food amazing and huts basic but super super nice and comfortable − - too many sand flies (not a fault of the property I know, but in 4 days it was almost impossible to relax on the beach - apart a fair snorkeling in a nearby beautiful island, no much to do, but probably this is exactly what you want from a place like this.. do nothing, read, eat, sleep, repeat

Great if you just want to get away from it all. + It is an intimate, small hotel and felt properly off the beaten track. The food was good and not overpriced. − It did not feel as pristine as we expected - the sea was a bit murky, not blue. Waking up to frogs inside cabin 7 was not good but we were swiftly moved and it was okay afterwards.

very comfortably hosted + remote tropical islands − perhaps a bit disappointing snorkelling

Exceptional + Extraordinary place - located between jungle and the sea, most relaxed without Wifi or any activity program you can enjoy nature, very good food and have a good time at the beautiful beach or simply swing in your hammock.

Island Retreat + Michael and Kavita really work hard to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. The food is lovely. The boat excursion to a local reef was outstanding and we really liked Michael's efforts to keep the beach and reef clean. Michael was also extremely helpful in getting us to and from Phon Phem and answering our many questions. − There is not a great deal to do on the island but it is a great place to relax and read or swim. The wonderful trip to the local reef made it for us.

A comfortable, unique experience + The resort's location on the island is very remote, which makes the experience feel novel and peaceful. There are not too many rooms, so it is not very busy with lots of tourists. The food is very good and the service is great. The bungalows are comfortable and large. The nearest beaches are kept as clean as possible by the owners. − Getting to the island itself for us was not a relaxing experience - the boat journey was very stressful, as it was very choppy and the crossing takes 45 minutes from the fishing village. There is no other way to the island however, so you just need to be lucky with the weather and keep your valuables hidden away for the duration of the journey. The journey back was a bit better for us. Overall, we could have been very unlucky with our boat crossings, but feel it is important to note that this is the only way you can reach the island. Make sure the driver wraps you in waterproof material, to be safe both ways.

Properly off the beaten track and still not developed atall Feb 24 + Koh Thmei Resort was exactly what we wanted after travelling and sight seeing for a month in Cambodia. We were worried about the speed of change and development on some islands and therefore not knowing what we would be confronted with. Koh Thmei is properly off the beaten track and quite basic on a virtually deserted, undeveloped island. The journey there by the hotels boat is from a small, authentic fishing village. With just 8 bungalows we enjoyed a very quiet and relaxing few days filled with reading, swimming, board games, jigsaws, chatting to the owners, small group of staff and fellow guests or watching amazing sunsets followed by the flying foxes leaving the jungle each evening. The food is absolutley delicious and has a good selection for vegetarians. We loved it and felt like a part of a family by the time we left. We even enjoyed the fact that Wi-Fi is very limited. − Nothing

Perfect! + Everything about koh Thmei Resort was perfect. It had everything you needed to enjoy the peace, quiet and beautiful setting. Lovely food, vegans were catered for. Lovely hosts, very friendly and helpful. They have worked so hard to provide a place that provides its own energy sustainably with conscious approaches to having as low an impact as possible on the lovely environment. So interesting to see what they have achieved. They are an inspiration. − Nothing

Castaway island dream + I’ve travelled to a lot of places, many of which claim to offer what Koh Thmei resort offers - a sense of leaving civilisation behind, full immersion in nature and all the peace which comes with it. In my opinion, if this is what you are looking for, you should look no further than Koh Thmei Resort. Nestled in the jungle on a near completely uninhabited island, you really feel like you’ve totally escaped civilisation to live a castaway dream. Most magical, dream like place I’ve visited in my years’ of travelling. You can spend the days swimming in the bath-warm water, hiking through the jungle, eating delicious food or just lying in a hammock looking at the unbelievable view. Kavita and Michael have truly created something magical !

If you need peace and quiet this is the place for you. + There are few places where you can relax well, and this resort is one of them. The equipment is the simplest possible, and at the same time there is everything you need.

Superb + The wooden houses are super nice, very simple yet beautifully designed, right next to the beach. The property stands alone, having no “neighbor” properties around which ensures your sense of privacy and safety. Kavita and Michael seem to be very nice, interesting, organized and supportive people; they will take care of you and your needs. − Wi-fi very limited and working some hours in the day; probably we weren’t that ready to face that “challenge”. The beach is not that clean and snorkeling is not good; the underwater world is almost non-existing. Both the Wi-Fi and the water quality is not something one can blame the hosts about; as we reckon our stay we find the room a bit overpriced though.

Island paradise + This resort is very well run by the owners. It has a lovely community feel and the facilities are all you need for this remote and peaceful island. Highly recommend coming to this island paradise for a complete blissfull and relaxing stay. Life is simple here and a real change of pace. You will be well fed and looked after well. − This island is completely what expected and more. There wasn't anything not to like.
