Major hospitality/booking issues. Be warned if booking through a third party site − Hospitality and booking issues are where We had a MASSIVE overbooking disaster that was handled poorly by management. Despite our guests booking Demetria Tower Suite rooms several months in advance, the hotel overbooked due to a city conference/expo going on that week. When our guests arrived, many were told their rooms were unavailable and were going to be forcibly moved to an entirely different "affiliated" property called: “Demetria Bungalows,” multiple blocks away. This is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone during someone's wedding week. Worse: - Staff were dismissive, argumentative and showed zero empathy - We spent over 4 hours on our welcome night arguing with them and on the phone with Expedia (Demetria would ignore Expedia's calls). - My wife and her sister cried from the stress - The Bungalows is clearly inferior (look it up, it's more like a dingy hostel or Airbnb) yet they still …

Shocking, Unhygienic, and Deeply Unprofessional - avoid at all cost + This hotel is an absolute disgrace. Charging around USD 700 per night for conditions like this is insulting and frankly outrageous. The staff are completely incompetent and uninterested. No professionalism, no sense of responsibility, and no attempt to resolve issues. Requests are ignored, and basic standards of service simply do not exist here. The room itself was dirty and poorly maintained. The building is visibly falling apart — broken details everywhere, including damaged windows, which is completely unacceptable in any hotel, let alone one pretending to be luxury. The terrace was filthy and disgusting, clearly not cleaned or cared for in a long time, The shower flooding and interment hot water to make a few things. To make matters worse, by 5:00 PM our room still had not been made up. At this price point, that is beyond unacceptable. This is basic hotel operation, not a special request. What truly alarmed…

The Colonia Lafayette neighborhood is fantastic and we’ll return to the area, but given what we paid, we’ll likely choos + Hotel Demetria is located in the wonderful Colonia Lafayette neighborhood, within easy walking distance of excellent restaurants and cafes. The hotel has a sleek, modern boutique aesthetic that’s visually appealing. − For the price point ($400ish/night), several aspects fell short: We were provided only one complimentary water bottle per day and expected to purchase more. Coffee was not included. Our room had only AC, no heat - staff offered blankets when we mentioned being cold. The rooftop area looked lovely but was rarely open during our stay, so we couldn’t enjoy sunset views with wine served as hoped. Front desk staff were polite but seemed disinterested in providing local recommendations for coffee shops and running routes. The hotel felt quite empty during our stay.

Never again. + It has a cool architecture and that's the only thing I can say good about this hotel − I have no idea how this hotel be a 5-star hotel. The amenities and the room furniture are all very torn. There is not even a hardryer and iron in the room. You have to call the reception and ask for them and the ones they provide are at least 2 decades old. There is not even a coffee maker - even an old one. Needless to say there are not cotton pads or any toiletaries that you would expect in a 5-star hotel. The room they put me in was looking at a wall - literally. I asked it to be changed and the room they showed me was dark like dungeon and they did not seem to want to tolerate. I was supposed to stay for 4 nights, but I changed it to stay only 1 night and changed the hotel. This is not a 5-star hotel, the 4-star hotel around the corner I booked has much better amenities and room for fraction of the price

+ Good value for what you get. − The rooms can be odd - this time I got a great room that doesn't have too many random steps or weird stuff but other times I've had rooms that are very strange. Also, the place feels vacant. No vibe...for such a cool place. The pool is cool, but why no bar at the pool?

Photos and Reviews Did Not Match Reality + Nice location and easy to get around, but unfortunately the hotel was very disappointing. The property is in serious need of maintenance and renovation. It does not look like the photos online and feels very run down. There were several issues throughout the stay, including things that either did not work properly or clearly had not been maintained. The staff was friendly enough, but not attentive or service-focused. The most frustrating part was when they suggested we had broken the toilet, even though the issue was clearly a small leak from the hose connection and the toilet already flushed poorly. It was disappointing and surprising that they tried to blame guests for what seemed like basic maintenance neglect. Based on my experience, I do not understand the high ratings. Sweet Getaway + The entire staff at hotel Demetria was incredible. My favorite was how private and cool my room was. The mixed drinks at the down stairs restaurant were out of this world. There is one young bartender with black short hair he knows what he’s doing with the drinks. The front desk staff was also amazing. The two young gentleman who run the front desk were awesome and respectful.
