Une très belle découverte parmi les Relais & Châteaux + Un magnifique bâtiment moderne situé au calme absolu et disposant d’installation d’exception. − Il faut bien compter 15 minutes en voiture sur des petites routes sinueuses pour atteindre l’hôtel depuis la sortie de l’autoroute. Il y a deux routes d’accès. L’une très étroite (impossible de croiser), l’autre plus accessible par l’ouest. Pour visiter les environs c’est un peu laborieux, mais s’il s’agit de rester sur place et se reposer, c’est parfait. Le restaurant étoilé était fermé lors de notre séjour. Nous avons été un peu déçus par le second restaurant de l’établissement. <Le petit déjeuner est en revanche parfait.

+ The staff at the restaurants and breakfast were amazing. − They took a 5000 euro deposit when arriving at the hotel which I thought was fine at the end of checkout our total was 3750 . Finding out that the next day after checkout they didn’t just do 5000 minus the 3750 and send the difference they took out 3750 out of my Account whilst holding the 5000 euro. This triggered a fraud alert at my bank and the whole issue took a week to resolve. This was never said to as the usual practice is that the difference is taken from the deposit. This was the only negative of the hotel.

A simply spectacular experience from the moment I queried to stay (booking a surprise Honeymoon escape) to checking out + Literally everything… simply a flawless establishment!! Loved everything about the Akelarre Relais & Châteaux - but the staff really made the experience special for my Wife (Eshé) and I throughout our stay. − N/A

A hotel on a different level that ultimately did not meet all expectations + We arrived at this luxury hotel with high expectations and in some ways it was truly an extraordinary experience, a perfect room with a spectacular view towards the sea, thinking of all the smallest details and impeccable design. A huge bathroom that also has a jacuzzi overlooking the sea, equipped with everything you need to pamper yourself. Sleeping was like a dream since the bed was so soft and cozy. The room service was exceptional and everything was answered quickly. − Disappointingly, the service at the reception was not good, ranging from rudeness to indifference. Despite a prior email, there was no response from the staff, which left us with no available slots in the spa, which was a big disappointment because this is what you come to a hotel like this for, and their treatment menu is impressive, but zero flexibility or even taking responsibility. Our visit was much too brief. + Akelarre was the highlight of our trip to Spain. We very much needed the peaceful atmosphere of the hotel. It's hard to single out one particular aspect; the breakfast times we had overlooking the ocean were special for us.
