Just wonderful + We have been at Westin Shimeibay twice - location is not very touristic, beaches are clean and not overcrowded. The hotel itself is very family friendly (50m indoor pool), several outdoor pools, play grounds and kids club. Food wise you will have the choice between Chinese and Chinese food ;-) the western cuisines isn’t too fancy (but who cares). We would recommend to rent a car if you stay there longer. Btw - the Christmas dinner buffet was fantastic! Great hotel, thank you Westin

On the Wanning beach + Very busy hotel Mid March, maybe because people cannot travel abroad due to covid and quarantine. 3rd floor Mountain view room 1st night, exactly that. Large room, twin dou⁷ble bed small bathroom and stupidly small bath. Had to ask for fridge to be opened by a key to use, informed people not always honest. Nice size balcony with sofa, chair and table. 2nd and 3rd nights moved to 5th sea view, much better with view. Advise 5th floor as 3rd and below appear to be in tree line. Fridge in this room was open. Rooms have plenty of electric International plug sockets. Busy 9am crowd was easily catered for at breakfast, which was very good. Had Italian themed buffet, it was ok but no stand out foods, good selection of bottled beers and a draught beer. Hotel grounds are vast and grassed, very well kept. Le Meridien next door is all sand frontage so be aware. Hotel lobby is a whow, must visit just to see. Beech is good, turn left walk maybe 1km, turn right long long beech…

Beautiful. Would stay again + Absolutely beautiful hotel. In China 5 star doesn’t always mean 5 star but this resort was absolutely clean, modern, and beautiful. We only stayed here for 1 night on a road trip from Haikou to Sanya and it was one of our favorite resorts.

Marriott members not welcomed here + This is the worst hotel ever. My wife and I stayed here on Jun. 11. She is a Marriott platinum member and I have Titanium status. Although we encountered Marriott hotels not wanting to provide member upgrade, this hotel has taken it to another level. Hotel managment instructed hotel employees not to provide room upgrade around any Chinese holidays, even if rooms are available. Come to think of it, the issue with Marriott hotels are their highly inconsistent service. Likely due to many franchises that Marriott can’t control. So yes, I recommend any Marriott members who wish to stay at this hotel to book using OTA so this hotel can pay a higher take rate. Lastly, the bathroom sink is just way too small. Breakfast is also mediocre.

Substandard Experience + The service at this hotel was abhorrent. Staff will not allow customers to swim in the water past their knees, so don’t go there expecting to swim. Breakfast buffet was over crowded and much of the food had no taste. All in all one of the worst vacation experiences I have ever had. If you’re planning to visit Hainan don’t go to this overpriced sand pit with no ability to swim in the ocean. This “hotel” should be appalled by their lack of service and ability.

If you don’t understand Chinese, it is a difficult to place to stay. + The size of room − Inability to communicate. Just so hard to communicate if you don’t speak Chinese. No enough information if you don’t understand Chinese.

One of the best resorts in China + I would like to rate The Westin Shimei Bay Resort for 5.The Westin Shimei Bay Resort exceeded my expectations in almost all aspects. We stayed at a family suite with direct access to the pool. Though it was too cold to use the pool, the suite itself was very spacious and comfortable. With two bathrooms and three sinks, a family would not feel constraint. The hotel was stylish and the suite we stayed was well maintained and cleaned. I must mention the buffet breakfast of the hotel. It was among the best in China. Firstly the breakfast started at 06:30 though most hotels in Wanning and Sanya started at 07:00. 06:30 was very friendly for those who wanted or needed to get up early. Secondly, the choice of the food was among the top tier and food was delicious. F&B team was amazing. All staff I had met were ready for help and keen to help. Experiencing the seasonal tastes signature restaurant + Entered the restaurant at 6:30PM. I was told this Westin is no longer doing any type of buffet. No one except a couple and a man sitting at their tables. I ordered French fries and the spicy chicken burger. Had to wait 45 minutes before complaining to leave and not paying anything to finally get food served at my table within 5 minutes. I was given poor excuses such as the other clients ordered much more complicated food...Anyway, mac donalds do taste like five stars compared to the atrocious burger I was provided at this place. Moreover the chicken was a little funny, I got sick during the night and threw up all this terrible shamelessly overpriced evening meal. I will never stop by this location ever again.

Love the view and services, but there are a lot to improve + The view is absolutely beautiful. It is hundred percent worth it to upgrade to the ocean view house if possible. The breakfast is really good, be there early tho, you might have to wait after 9:30 am. Both pools are pretty shallow for adults, crowded with kids. The gym is mid, a lot of equipment. The beach is super nice with chairs and benches for you to lay down. Though it is not allowed to get into the water, which is really sad. The service are absolutely great, always have a smile on their face. But the overall experience with this hotel is only a 3/5 for me. Also, I recommend to take a cab out for 30 minutes for more authentic and affordable meal!

Nice for a calm rest + Nice location for someone looking for a quite rest. During the dinner there was a life music, nice atmosphere, nice view. Also, saw some people riding the waves on boards. − Conditioning in the room was not OK, except the central one there was a separate heater (probably to fight against moist) - all night it was quite not comfortable to sleep. Swimming in the sea is prohibited for already several years, it was not indicated during the booking.

Great view and beach, but terrible service with misleading + Good view − Staff is not trained well. Sent message through booking, nobody replied; Nobody helped to take luggages; Took more than 30 mins to check in, lots of people were waiting, but reception spent plenty of time trying to ask guests registering membership; told reception to register my car rego, but was asked to pay for parking when leaving; booking.com indicates 600 CNY for food/drink, but was told there was only a free afternoon tea(which is worth 298 CNY).
