STAY AWAY + The location is nice on the hill, the restaurant waiters try to do good job, but the food is way out of standard, that will explain why there no one going to eat. Rome very dirty, need deep cleaning but after reporting no one care, sofa I cared even to sit on it cabinets greasy. They will not let on uber driver to pick you up, so you have to go to the front gate Don’t be mistaken by the pictures in reviews with nice green pools and jacuzzi as it is different hotel near by and you not allowed to go there, have no ideas why someone advertised as it is a part on matlali resort and they say spa, but you will not find it there as there nothing on the property Do owner just like to collect money not serving you

Nice place but definitely not for me + It’s a nice place. The food is good but you don’t have many options of what you’re eating day to day. It’s isolated with no form of entertainment. Cleaning service is very good. I think it was more staff at the property than guest. Hotel is on the hillside which is a nice touch

A hidden Mexican gem overlooking the Bay of Banderas + This hotel was just what I was looking for for a 5 night get away. Quiet, out of the way, great food and most of all, the friendliest and most helpful staff I've ever encountered in an all-inclusive. Although not for every vacationer, I enjoyed the low occupancy, enabling us to socialize with other couples without the endless noisy activities of other resorts. This is not a beach resort; but the beach is accessible by a 3x/day shuttle. No evening entertainment, no volleyball, no shuffleboard. The resort is built into the jungle hillside, with a beautiful nature walk, birds, and butterflies. No bugs, scorpions, or geekos. Two resident cats kept that all under control! The staff was delightful. A special shout-out to Jimmy at the bar, who kept us well hydrated and stuffed with snacks! Serene resort with friendly staff + Matlali is the perfect better away for those seeking a quiet restful retreat. It is located in a canyon with a view of the bay, and has beautiful landscaping. We participated in the All-inclusive program. Every meal was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were very friendly and quickly learned your preferences. Anlleline, Argentina, and Roulof were especially attentive!

+ We liked our Suite and the private pool, but the other visitors partied until 4 AM and we complained for 3 nights with no relief. When leaving, we did not return our wrist bands, because we were not told to return them. They refused to let us leave the premises and kept us hostage for 15 minutes in our car waiting for them to open the gate so we could leave. Totally unprofessional, rude and illegal. Don't expect anything better. This was off season, imagine what it is like when it is at full capacity!?

+ So, the front clerk upon arriving was not welcoming. The fan in the entrance patio was not working, neither was the jacuzzi so that was not good. One day we did not have maid service and the last day before we checked out they didn’t leave any coffee and clean the dirty dishes from the previous day. Other than that. Our villa was very comfortable and the place was very clean and vegetation felt like you’re in Hawaii, very beautiful. Transportation was quick to take us where we needed.

Fair Price, Average Accommodations & Food, No Walkable Beach + My rating comes as a person who has traveled internationally 1000+ times and experienced varied locations. I’d give this a “just ok / average”. Rooms are clean, towels fresh and facilities (water, lights) working. We did experience water failure & fluctuations 2 of 5 nights. The hospitality here matches other PVR resorts, and a sign of friendly & accommodating Mexican tourism culture. Food is average tasting at the 2 onsite restaurants. Drinks and bartenders are “accommodating” especially if you have all-inclusive. The beach is NOT walking distance from resort, but regular & timely shuttle service is available; the Eva Mandarin area is clean with access to the public (not private) beach. The resort’s AI wristband works at Eva. Taxi/Uber north to Nayarit is appx 70min from PVR, pending traffic.

Disappointed and Frustrated — False Advertisement + I rarely leave reviews, but after my stay at Grand Matlali Riviera Nayarit, I feel compelled to warn others. What was supposed to be a relaxing getaway turned into a stressful and disappointing experience. Let’s start with the check-in process — slow, disorganized, and unwelcoming. We waited almost an hour past check-in time because "the room wasn’t ready." No apology, no offer of a drink or anything to make up for the inconvenience. Not exactly a warm first impression. We booked the Villa, 2 Bedrooms Pool Terrace - All Inclusive. The rooms itself were far from what was advertised. Dingy lighting, musty smell, and the bathroom had mold around the showers, The bathroom sinks were also dirty and mirrors had white spots not sure if it was teethpaste or something else. There were dead bugs on the floor around the sliding glass doors, and the private pool terrance was a joke. It had dead bugs on the bottom and floating, clearly it was n…

Great People ★★★★★ for the Staff, Rough Facilities ★★ for the Hotel + The staff here are amazing—100% deserving of 5 stars. Everyone we met was super friendly, and they even made a special kitchen request happen for us. Ismael at the front desk and Aaron at the beach were especially great, and honestly, every staff member we encountered treated us so well. We only tried breakfast, but it was delicious. The rooms and facilities, however, need serious attention. Pool tiles need replacing. The serenity pool had no staff, food, or drinks, and the fridge and dishwasher were gross. Moldy sink tiles, sandy balcony pools, and worn-out, ripped towels made things uncomfortable. Overall: 5 stars for the staff, 2 stars for the facilities. The hotel has potential, but management needs to clean up and update the rooms—guests won’t be back if they feel grossed out.
