Tai O Heritage Hotel brings you back to 'Somewhere in Time' + You will find yourself living (staying) in history. An experience money can't buy. When you think about that, plus there are only 9 rooms on the premises, the Tai O Heritage Hotel easily became one of the best value hotels I have ever stayed in over 80 countries. The staff are gentle and humble just like the people you met in the village. Then I learned from the manager Nicole that it's the hotel's policy to prioritize employment for the local community. That makes this hotel good value with a heart ❤️. − The shrimp fried rice is their signature dish in the magnificent Lookout Restaurant. Unfortunately, as a local, I found the taste of the shrimp paste, a must-try local delicacy, far too mild. I wonder if this is deliberate to cater for the non-locals as shrimp paste can be pungent and is an acquired taste. The rice was a bit soggy too.

A unique place that requires an understanding to history to taste. + The taste, it is a unique historical place and perserved good with respect to the history and local culture and balancing modern standard of comfortness. − The accessiblity could be better if they can work more closely with local boat owners and local people. This hotel could benefit from getting more creative solutions to some of those practical issues. It could be better if it can work with local charities, artists and social orgnisations to create some access for people to understand the cultural and historical heritage that convergenced at this place/building/community.

Two nights that felt like two weeks, in the best possible way. + Woke up to complete silence, sea views and birds. No traffic, no city noise, just Tai O doing its thing outside the window. The suite in The Inspector is genuinely special: original shutters, old fireplace, real character. Staff were warm without being intrusive. Breakfast with the harbour below - hard to beat. − Getting here is half the adventure (no Uber, limited taxis, walk 20 min or hire a local boat), but honestly that’s part of what makes it feel so removed from everything. Not a complaint, just a heads up for first-timers.

Beautiful heritage hotel with amazing breakfast. Tricky to get there though, especially with luggage + Heritage Hotel in Tai O, off the main roads with lovely breakfast − Inconvenient to arrive 'after hours'. It's a 20min walk from the nearest Taxi stand. Hotel does not offer any service for luggage etc, with is not ideal during rainy season
