Luxury hotel but luxury prices for every single damn thing. The price gouging wore on me. + I really wanted to love this hotel and give it a better review but this place is a hotel with luxury prices but not luxury services. Every single thing is a significant overcharge and yes I know that is to be expected when staying at a higher-end hotel but it just became grating. Luxury prices for every single damn thing. This hotel gave me a headache with how much they nickel and dimed us. For example, the hotel is very isolated so you really need to make an effort if you want to eat or drink offsite and they really gouge you on food and drink prices. As another example, it's not convenient to get around the area without using a hotel transportation service (Uber is technically not legal in Costa Rica so it became a buyer beware scenario if you wanted to rely on Uber) and the hotel transportation service charged nearly twice what Uber would charge for any trip. As a bit of a last straw for m…

A truly delightful stay + Since the late 1980’s I have traveled for business. I have stayed in the top hotels in San Francisco, NY, Las Vegas, & Toronto. Never have I been treated better than how I was treated during my recent stay at the W Resort Hotel in Playa Conchal, Costa Rica. Every single member of the staff I encountered was friendly, mannerly, and genuinely interested in helping or satisfying me. The hotel & resort is modern, beautiful, and exceptionally clean. The food was exceptional, and I had all that I needed with a comfortable bed. The room was luxurious and had a wonderful view of the ocean. I hope to be back to experience this resort hotel and the wonder of Reserva Conchal in Playa Conchal!

Great for families better for couples + We loved our stay at the W Costa Rica. My kids loved the buffet , especially in the mornjng. The food was great. The pools were also great although the kids/family pool is far away compared to the adult pool. We also liked the different restaurants available and the concierge to book excursions was very good. The area itself doesn’t have much and the beach while nice to be close wasn’t amazing. All that said , the kids loved it and that itself was enough. Also the service we received was fantastic!!

We'll be back! + This was a great stay for us! The hotel is chic. The food was very good. Great breakfast buffet. Big shout out to Robert, Pablo, Daniella ("Soy mas fuerte que un toro!"), Adrian and Sebastian. We were very blessed to have been able to get to know them some during our stay there. Great at their jobs and great people. The place is clean. The beach is fantastic; instead of sand it is made of crushed sea shells. We saw howler monkeys, deer, iguanas, and exotic birds on the property. Went snorkeling and saw the fishies; Robert and Pablo directed us to a good spot. We plan to return next year. Loved it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unforgettable Stay at the W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal + Our stay at the W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal was absolutely fantastic! The resort itself is stunning — modern design blended perfectly with the natural beauty of Conchal Beach — but what truly made our experience unforgettable was the incredible staff. The bellmen — Sebastian, Keylor, Gregory, Sandy, Jonathan, and Juan — were outstanding. Every interaction was marked by genuine warmth, professionalism, and an eagerness to help. They made arrivals and departures seamless and always greeted us with enthusiasm and a smile when called to transport us within the resort. A huge thank-you to Fabian, the bartender, who is a true artist behind the bar. Each cocktail he crafted was not only delicious but a visual experience — you could see the pride and passion he brings to his work. At the pool, Maria, Brandon, and Aaron made every day feel effortless. Their attentiveness, friendliness, and energy added so much to our t…

The finest hotel and resort in Costa Rica + What an awesome experience. Exquisite food, great drinks, immaculate rooms and grounds and most of all; a stellar staff that will cater to all of your needs. We spent 4 days and wished it would have been longer. Please pass on our sincerest thanks for a job well done!! Don and Connie

This is not a 5 star property + The hotel is not a 5 star w hotel in any way. Traveling solo I was given a first floor room , not safe and not what I booked. They changed the room names before i checked in and the rudest check in girl on the planet was not willing to help me, the GM came to talk to me the following day. The rooms are ok, the selective check in- all the white people were checked in first regardless of time we arrived, the tasteless food and coffee was by far the biggest regret. This hotel doesn’t know what culture it offers, it’s a non cohesive mess. The pools are not big and there is no ambience. This is like vacationing in a retirement home. The fitness classes of 4 older people shut down half of the pool at 10am on a sat and that meant you heard an instructor as you were laying out bc they refuse to put music on! The bartenders inside have such a dry attitude. I literally ate all American like food here bc they are clearly catering to a certain palette. I was so d…

Gorgeous Views + This hotel was gorgeous, super clean, amazing views from the room. I especially enjoyed the breakfast buffet! An amazing selection with tons of fresh fruit which was my favorite part. I also enjoyed the eggs made to order. Every day I was there for a week I ate in the restaurants. They’re okay. The pool is great. The room service was great. It’s not super simple to leave the hotel property as it is massive and it isn’t amazingly easy to get to the beach either, I want to say it took us about 18 minutes to walk there. This hotel would be amazing if you plan on spending a lot of time in your room or at the pool.

Enjoyable Stay and Activities + Overall, a very enjoyable stay. The beach, while not private, feels secluded and wasn't crowded. It’s just a short walk from the hotel, with drink /food service and chairs provided. I took my coffee there in the mornings and rarely saw someone else. The waves aren’t ideal for boogie boarding (which my kids wanted and we ended up traveling to Tamarindo for a day trip to do boogie boarding), but the water is perfect for swimming. Further down, the beach is almost entirely made of small shells! Book restaurant reservations early. Even in the off-season, it can get busy. Don’t miss Latitude 10 N Restaurant—the service was outstanding, and the food was exceptional. My 14-year-old son said it is his favorite meal ever (steak!), and they even crafted him a one-of-a-kind mocktail based on his likes! The breakfast buffet was also amazing -- we only tried it one day due to the price, but it was incredible. (Tip: restaurant service—especially in the morning—can b…

Best anniversary celebration! + Great location, my husband and I had a wonderful time celebrating our anniversary. We felt like we were in the jungle when we stepped into our balcony. Latitud 10 Norte was delicious and the service was great! All the employees were friendly and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome. Lizbeth, Guillermo, Jairo and Karina, thank you for everything!

Perfect week in paradise + We had a fantastic time at this property. The grounds were gorgeous, the room was perfect, and everyone we met made us feel welcome and at home. Dania and Erich at the front desk were superb. Gregory and Heylor were at our service with rides to the beach. Pablo and Aaron showed us such great care at Azul. We look forward to returning to this property.

Meh + This hotel could be a W anywhere in the World, there was nothing indicating you were in Costa Rica. They didn't even have Costa Rican rum in the bars. Self driving in the hotel is 2 km from the entrance but there are very few signs indicating directions (luckily google knew the way). As with all W hotels it feels as if its trying too hard to be trendy, we didn't really enjoy our stay here and likely wont be back. If you want real Costa Rica go elsewhere, if you want a generic hotel serving American food you will love it

Not Worth $800+ Per Night. + Should have listened to the negative reviews. This is easily the worst W property I’ve stayed at. The food is bad and wildly overpriced. Two average margaritas were $61. In-room coffee was $20, plus $10 for cream. That’s not luxury pricing, it’s a cash grab. Service matched the food. Wait staff consistently forgot our orders. To be fair, items were comped, but only after long, frustrating waits. The valet and welcoming staff were rude and acted inconvenienced every time we requested our car. The property itself is very small with very few amenities. We paid for an upgraded “full ocean view” room that was about 75% jungle, with the rest split between distant mountains and a sliver of ocean. WiFi was weak and inconsistent throughout the stay. Overall, this hotel is absolutely not worth the $800+ per night price tag. I stay primarily at W and higher-end Marriott properties, and this one falls far below brand standards. Avoid at all costs.

Wonderful hotel, great staff! + Stayed here in the middle of December and had a wonderful time. The hotel is in a beautiful location in the jungle overlooking the beach. The room was very nice and the housekeeping came multiple times per day which was a plus. Also, all the staff were extremely nice and friendly and truly made this stay enjoyable. Also shoutout to Erick G from Playa Conchal who arraigned our airport transportation, highly recommended. Overall, a great stay in Costa Rica!!

Favorite hotel stay thus far! Everything about this resort was perfect. Highly recommend. + Honestly I can’t even think of ONE THING to say that wasn’t positive about my experience here. Even if I’m being nit picky nothing comes to mind. Everything across the board was EXCEPTIONAL from the service, to the food, to the amenities. 10/10 and will be back again

The W hotel was Just Good in Costa Rica + Overall it was a great experience. The resort is lovely and taken care of very well. The staff is super attentive and very kind. The rooms were large and we each got one next to each other, two king rooms with large bathrooms. The first lunch was at the kids pool area (forget the name) it was really good. We had a great waiter and he convinced us to switch our reservation for that night to attend the beach bbq with a fire show. We decided to do that and no one told us it was over $100 per person! We don't eat shellfish or pork so we barely ate anything. The steak was dry and overcooked. The food just wasn't good, and the fire show was about 5 minutes long. SO not worth it at all! The breakfast buffet was very good, the pastries seemed stale and not good at all. I would reccomend going off the property for dinner. It less expensive and sometimes better food. We went to Patagona and it was good. We were scared to go off property b…
