No lo recomiendo + La persona que nos atendió antes de entrar al hotel. La persona que nos explicó todo en la Habitacion y el personal del desayuno. − La Habitación tenía vistas a unas obras, era muy antigua y pequeña. Relación calidad precio muy lejos de ser coherente. Pedimos un masaje y no tenían. Las instalaciones parecían de los años 80 sin renovar. El baño aún estando limpio era extremadamente lúgubre. Pagar el dineral que pagamos por dormir en un colchón malo en el suelo con unas almohadas cutres en un sitio sin cortinas y con vistas a una obra no merece buenos comentarios. La experiencia ha sido la peor que hemos tenido en Japón, lamentablemente. Entiendo que nos dieron una habitación terrible y que habrá otras mucho mejores. Dónde estuvimos no es de recibo.

Great ryokan experience + Location and staff. So friendly and helpful The ryokan experience is very special. − The kaiseki meal was a great experience but maybe for me the flavours were too subtle. However presentation and service were wonderful. The futon could have been more comfortable. I felt that the room possibly needed a little redecoration.

Close to 5* but not quite - a great, interesting ryokan + Such an interesting experience. Out first ryokan. Brilliant location in lovely, historic Takayama. First of all, a complimentary pick up from the station is a nice touch. We were collected in the vintage Japanese limo…lovely. The ryokan is perhaps a bit less historic than I maybe thought…maybe a 70s building.? Our room, in the Kachoan building was a good size, but maybe a bit dated, rather than characterful. We wanted a ryokan experience and this delivers from the minute you arrive. Other aspects of the ryokan are interesting…particularly private dining. The whole experience is excellent. Why only 4 stars? The onset is in an annexe, not in the main building. So we didn’t visit. The kaiseki dinner was good, but not exceptional food - though lovely staff service. This is the cheap Motel 6 version of a Japanese ryokan + What a massive disappointment and complete waste of money and time while traveling in Japan. We had stayed at a different ryokan 2 previous nights and decided to try a different experience here and it was a major mistake. The staff was friendly and attentive, but my good reviews stop there. The lobby and rooms are a mix of cheap furniture, and flashy decor. There are advertisements everywhere to get you to buy their products. The dinner was disgusting and I couldn’t even eat any of it. The condemns like an old hot tub and nothing authentic or relaxing. The staff is not even Japanese ! I ended up forfeiting a cancelled fee for 2 massages because I had seen enough disappointment for a day. I cannot wait to leave here.

Superb hotel, excellent location and very friendly staff. + The location of this ryokan is superb, with Takayama Station within easy reach. As an added bonus, they also provide a complimentary shuttle service to and from the hotel. We stayed in a traditional Japanese-style room with futons, which we absolutely loved. From the moment we arrived, the service felt very personal. We were greeted warmly by the hotel staff and offered welcome tea in our room shortly after settling in. We had selected a stay that included both Japanese breakfast and dinner, and the food was simply outstanding - genuinely first-class, gourmet-level cuisine. Each meal was beautifully presented and was one of the highlights of our stay. Overall, Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan gave us a wonderful traditional ryokan experience, combining excellent hospitality, beautiful accommodation and exceptional food. − The bathroom was a little small for four adults, but this is perhaps to be expected in Japan.

Caters to foreigners who know little about Japanese food. Good location, disappointing amenities. + Location is central, rooms are fairly big by Japan standards. Lobby area is fun for young children. − Realized when I lay down to go to bed that our sheets smelled like old, musty laundry, it was quite gross. Cranked up the A/C according to the printed out instructions and it barely worked and we spent a very unpleasant night. Kaiseki was very disappointing. All their dishes had clearly been sitting in the fridge for a while prior to being served to us, rather than freshly prepared. For anyone who knows anything about Japanese food, the rice was deeply disappointing, especially at this price point.

+ È stata un'esperienza molto piacevole e ne abbiamo apprezzato ogni aspetto. Dall'ospitalità del personale che ci è venuto a prendere in stazione e ci ha riportati (dopo averci anche avvisato in tempo che i treni erano cancellati per maltempo), alla cena kaiseki in cui ci siamo sentiti coccolati da Siska, che salutiamo con affetto! Abbiamo fatto l'onsen, che si trova nell'edificio di fronte per le donne e abbiamo anche indossato gli yukata e passeggiato per le vie del paese, che è delizioso. Che bello tutto, che bello il Giappone!
