+ The property needed significant modernisation. The room furniture looked like it was from the 70's. The en suite was tiled with black tiles and the bath, basin and toilet were sky blue. Poor taste interior decoration. The whole hotel had a hint of faulty towers.

Lovely stay + Good check in, lovely room, very clean and comfortable, fantastic views of the Mournes from our bedroom windows, nice breakfast, freshly cooked to order. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

+ Lovely grounds & nature trail leading down to the river. Lovely period building but bedrooms, bathrooms & dining rokms need updated. Old fashioned bedroom furniture & a bathroom from the 1970s. An excuse for a shower over the bath!

+ There was nothing not to like about the hotel the staff or the setting.Where else can you sit at your table and watch Red Squirrels feeding,or be visited by wild deer in the garden of an evening. No matter what the weather. Oh! and the food is excellent too.

Superb! + 2nd time to stay here. I love it - Great views, friendly and welcoming staff, excellent breakfast. The decor is traditional and this adds to the charm. We did the river trail, such a lovely feature. Our stay was so relaxing, we will visit again.

Delightful short break in Co. Down + Wonderful location and great views. Staff were welcoming and efficient and made you feel at home straight away. Food was very good and service was excellent. Although just a short break, I left refreshed. I would certainly stay in the Enniskeen hotel again.

+ Main standout quality of this hotel is it’s location. Beautiful views of The Mournes and very well maintained gardens. Also ample car parking space. If you want a quiet place to escape then this is it. Very attentive staff and excellent food. We did get the impression that one of the male staff was overworked- it seemed that he was absolutely doing everything, but must stress that he was an excellent ‘people person’ and that nothing was a bother to him. This hotel is only 1.8miles from the beautiful resort of Newcastle and is a perfect base from which to plan your hikes in The Mournes.

Potential in spades + This is a beautiful old building, with many features, and lots of potential. Sadly, much of that potential remains under wraps. It wouldn't be a massive job to remove the flocked wallpaper and give the rooms a coat of paint. The rooms are large and bright, and appear clean. I don't think 2 large vintage wardrobes and a large chest of drawers is necessary in a hotel room. Personally, 1 wardrobe and perhaps a sofa/chaise to relax on would be preferable. The residents lounge has been mentioned in previous reviews, and I have to agree, is superfluous to requirements, and feels like a care home. The other public rooms are fine, although a slightly dodgy looking ceiling in the breakfast room. The staff are very accommodating and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The grounds are spectacular and include a river walk, woodland area and wild flower meadow. You could be lucky enough to see the Kingfisher, if you stay quiet, whilst down on the river bank, and the wood…

+ Beautiful hotel to relax- nice ground and short trail to the creek. Had dinner and the food wasn’t so good- very bland taste ( absolutely no flavor) and a bit pricy.

+ Just a lovely spot, 5 minutes driving from town and the shore in Newcastle, 15 or so to some great hiking trails. Grounds are very nice and there’s a gentle climb down to the river, a beautiful spot on the patio to sit out for a drink or morning coffee — and the breakfast was excellent as well (I had to go for the Ulster Fry (similar to the Full English) both mornings. Wish we could have stayed longer, but hope to go back. Seems to be a holiday spot for the Irish and those from the UK, not overrun by our fellow Americans.

+ This property is set in beautiful grounds with fantastic view's of the mourne mountains, food choices were good maybe new pillows but thats my opinion. Overall very happy with our stay and will go back soon I hope
