+ Fabulous location, get a room with balcony overlooking the river. Lovely view and we saw Otters, dippers, wagtail, cormorant. Even a grass snake swimming in the nearby canal. Lots to do close by with grade A landscape. The hotel is full of character, clean comfortable, great staff, good food and full English breakfast or continental if you prefer. Great value given what's on offer. − The car park is free for guests but quite tricky to find and has a steep access. Best to arrive during daylight hours given the canal on one side of the driveway.

A hidden gem! + The location is fantastic, although we were a little nervous of the drive along the canal-side to the Hotel. Our room was quiet (at the back, overlooking the canal), it was also clean and comfortable. Note there are no lifts. The staff were all lovely and friendly people, who made us feel very welcome. We absolutely loved the dining room which overlooked the fast-flowing River Dee and beautiful scenery. The food sort of basic "pub grub", but we could have driven a couple of miles into Llangollen and found somewhere else if we had wanted. The chain bridge was a very special, unique feature, and the old Berwyn Station was visible directly opposite the Hotel, all with some fascinating local history courtesy of Llangollen's Museum. We visited Plas Newydd Historic House which is an absolute "must see", and took a fabulous steam train ride along the Dee Valley. A very enjoyable stay in a comfortable friendly hotel in a superb location. + The friendly staff who and at times went out of their way to help and assist. A special mention to the evening-meal/breakfast staff, who where so good, pleasant and friendly. The superb location and meals. Unexpected room service during our stay, something you seldom get now-a-days in many hotels unless asked for. No blaring music being played anywhere through a P.A. system....great. A log fire burning, surrounded by easy chairs. − Nothing comes to mind.
