Friendly pub , nice location, great staff. + Lovely location by the village green. Very friendly local people. Great staff, excellent food (evening meal) . Very good breakfast. A perfect overnight stay in a peaceful location.

Wonderful place to stay with great food and a lovely welcome. + Very comfortable with everything we needed. Room was beautifully decorated. Food was excellent. Great seating outside and a warm welcome. It’s nice that the guest rooms are above the dining area so not disturbed by noise from the bar when it’s busy. Everyone was friendly and when we were delayed on our travels we were told not to worry - they would ensure we were fed when we arrived. − Absolutely nothing!

a charming village inn set in beautiful landscape far from the madding crowd + We were interested in exploring the landscape, history, and rural villages of northern England, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here which was a perfect base for us to drive around both sides of the Scottish borders and in an east-west loop. Elston is a charming village and the natives are friendly. The innkeeper is a delightful source of suggestions for places to visit, and the chef is an Italian import. But if you want Yorkshire pudding, there's another inn close by with more typical north UK cuisine. Make sure to visit the town church across the green and to savor the local ale. − It was an unusually hot July, and while the nights got cool eventually, it would have been nice to have a fan in the room for getting to sleep early.

What a find! + Wonderful rooms at a brilliant place. Got in extremely late and was met by a kind lady who helped us to our rooms. Mine was particularly beautiful. Had a brilliant nights sleep and then a wonderful cooked breakfast in the morning before heading to our work. I liked the place so much that I hope to take my wife there for a break in the near future :) − Nothing that I didn't like. It was grea!
