It was pleasant but I wouldn’t stay for a long time − It needed cleaning/dusting the shower was on the small side, no television, the duvet could do with renewing and the towels.

This is the most welcoming B&B I have stayed at. Johnathan is an absolute gem and honestly was like returning home e + This is a lovely little place. I had the single room and it was perfect for me for 2 nights. Bed was really comfortable with brilliant fluffy pillows and duvet. − Slight hill to get to the B&B however was shown a slightly more level way to go, but it is Dartmouth after all.

It was a perfect stay in a scenic small town. + My room wasn’t very big, but it was perfectly adequate. It was very nicely decorated and had a wonderful bed. It was very quiet at night and I slept very well. Jonathan is a very friendly and attentive host who tries to cater to every request. There was also a generous selection at breakfast, and Jonathan kept checking if there was anything else he could bring. My stay there was perfect. − Nothing.

Good value, friendly host, comfortable place to stay. + Nice decor, comfy beds, friendly owner. Delicious breakfast - continental style with lovely granola and fresh fruit. Handy yet peaceful location just up the hill from the town centre − The showerhead in the bathroom wouldn’t move up, but it didn’t bother us that much

A backstreet gem in a beautiful, historic town. + Jonathan was a very attentive, friendly and social host who even gave us a lift back to get our car from the public car park. The building and rooms are wonderfully quirky and comfortable, exellent value for money and his breakfast is top notch (try the granola and banana smoothie). Would definitely go back again! − There was nothing to dislike.

John went out of his way to look after us. The room was clean with good facilities, which more than made up for the lack + Very attentive and accommodating host who went above and beyond to look after us during our stay − I would have liked to know that the breakfast was a continental one, rather than cooked, before my stay.

Handy & comfortable but a bit overpriced + Good location, just up hill from town. Comfortable & friendly host. Excellent breakfast. − Didn’t feel 100% clean & dated. Miscommunication about arrival time which was unfortunate. Overpriced.

Super-friendly host; the property would benefit from greater attention to detail + 10/10 for the super attentive and friendly host. Good continental breakfast with loads to choose from. Comfortable bed, good-quality bedding. − I would warmly recommend that the owner hire a hotel inspector or a 5-star B&B owner to provide a fresh pair of eyes and go through the property with them. Unfortunately, there were things that needed attention (a broken bin, a rusty luggage rack, patched-up wall paint, mould on the shower door, plant debris on the hallway floor, etc.), which made the £120-per-night price tag feel disproportionate, even taking into account the kind attention given to guests by the owner.

Great location and host + My partner and I booked a last-minute stay at Hill View House, and we couldn't have been happier with our choice! The location is fantastic, just a short, pleasant walk (under 10 minutes) down to Dartmouth’s historic town centre and vibrant harbour. It also served as a brilliant base for exploring the wider area, making drives to Salcombe and the surrounding coastal spots completely effortless. What made our stay very nice was Jonathan. He is an exceptionally friendly, attentive, and welcoming host who goes above and beyond for his guests. Jonathan ensured we had a hassle-free parking space sorted throughout our trip, which was a huge bonus given how frequently we were using the car. Thank you, Jonathan, for your warm hospitality, we had a great time and would gladly recommend Hill View House to anyone who looks for a room in a perfect location.

Lovely, friendly and stylish stay + Jonathan was lovely and super helpful! Everything was available for breakfast and the rooms were really nicely decorated. Jonathan also gives lovely reccomendations. We had a great stay, looking forward to coming back!
