The host of this “character Victorian” property was friendly and helpful and it was a quiet, restful place to stay. + I liked the location, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Victoria, yet walking distance. I really liked our room which was large, with a comfortable king sized bed, and a single bed in a nook. The furnishings throughout the building were wonderful—very Victorian—and the breakfast was excellent! − The outside maintenance. Paint was peeling, and in the rooms it was also obvious that more maintenance was needed. Having said that they were clean.

A charming oldie-worldie hotel with a great breakfast! + Haterleigh Heritage Inn was a delightful place to stay in if you like a bit of old-world charm rather than impersonal and soul-less modern hotel rooms! It is so convenient to walk into central Victoria, to restaurants to eat and the sea-front. Our bedroom was comfortable and I loved having a bath rather than a shower!! The breakfast was fantastic with a great choice of cooked food and continental style. Our host was most helpful too - and, fortunately, as it was Saturday night to Sunday we could park on the road rather than squeeze into the car park.

Happy to come back to Haterleigh Heritage Inn. We both loved the room, the breakfast (wow), the bed was great too! + Loved the decor, loved the neighbourhood, loved looking at the apple tree through the bathroom window. Chen the proprietor was a perfect host!

+ Unique as heck! Quite location for being so close to all the hustle of downtown. There was also a very cute cat outside catching mice. I hope they have him on the payroll. − Cleanliness could have been a little better but this property is like 125 years old and you can tell they are trying their best.

I don’t ever want to leave. It feels like home. + Everything. A house actually built with craftsmanship, love, and dignity. The walls hold people safely. We had the best sleep of our lives. I love that the owners actually value heritage and kept everything preserved. I even love that they leave the leaves that fall outside to nourish the soil instead of sterilizing every detail of nature. Instead of buying a heritage home and making it into a synthetic version of itself they’ve kept the old coloured stained glass and decor. − It was perfect. Real.
