+ Overall, I had a pleasant stay, and the hotel is beautiful with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were friendly, and I enjoyed my time there. However, I do feel that the hotel could benefit from a more thorough clean, especially the windows, which looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while. Considering the price I paid, I also expected the room to be stocked with two face towels instead of just one. In addition, the shower had very low water pressure, which made it less enjoyable to use. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, but with a few improvements to cleanliness and the room amenities, it would better reflect the price charged. − I do feel that the hotel could benefit from a more thorough clean, especially the windows, which looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while. Great overnight stay + The furniture & decor in the room was a little dated, however the room was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The staff member on our arrival was very friendly and efficient. The free water in our room was a welcome touch. We only used the hotel as a base for an event in Nottingham and never used any of the facilities. Although the bar area looked rather splendid and perhaps a great place to sit, relax and have a drink and something to eat. The gardens looked like a lovely area to explore. − Nothing.

Good value, great location and staff + Big room and decent bed. The shower was hot and reasonably powerful (big plus). The staff were all super friendly. − Nothing really; maybe a bit dated and could do with a bit of modernising.

1 night no dramas, beautiful surroundings + I’m well aware of the property I used to live to the rear it’s a stunning facade. − Opened the windows to let some air in and there was rubble on the ledge, tiny desk fan to cool wasn’t adequate

Absolutely fantastic, stepped back in time and felt I was in history + The location was amazing. It felt like you were stepping back in time. Such a beautiful area. Has a mysterious air about it. The staff were amazing! They were so friendly and helpful and Chloe was really good! The bed was so comfy and the food was fantastic.the food also was amazing. I loved the homemade chips! And breakfast was great. − The only thing I would say is my room looked a tad bit tired in terms of the walls , but actually it kind of fitted the vibe so wasn't a totally bad thing.

+ Lovely rooms, views of the gardens were beautiful. The staff members were friendly and approachable, and the communal areas had lots of space. The location was quiet and pretty. − The beds were extremely soft, which isn't great for our backs. The breakfast menu had several teas listed but not all were available at the time. However, there was enough choice that it didn't matter.

Beautiful building and surroundings + Beautiful building with lots of history and beautiful surroundings. − Unfortunately slightly dated and needs a lot of investment to get it up to the standard it could be. Not impressed having to pay extra to check in early, especially as our room was ready.

Very relaxing and enjoyable with plenty of space. + Great historic hotel picturesque location, large rooms, great view. Excellent food, great bar and terrace. Staff are friendly and courteous. Plenty of car parking. Can easily get taxi into Nottingham. − Slightly tired bathrooms but price reflects that.

Very Expensive for level quality provided + The building is an architectural gem. The grounds are immaculate. The L shaped room was big enough for 2 king sized beds. The bathroom was also very large. Everything seemed to be clean. Sufficient towels provided. tea / coffee / biscuits provided. − No lift so struggled up the beautiful elegant stairs. My room the viscount was directly over the bar. The noise from the bar was horrendous and being on a main corridor . My partner couldn't come so the lack of a security chain on the door was rather disconcerting. The TV remote was old and had its back missing. The TV was positioned so that you couldn't use the master bed and watch it. This could be remedied by either swapping the position of the bed and pull out sofa or fitting a bracket to the wall that allowed the tv to be pulled out. I slept in the pull out . The kettle needs replacing switches off before time. Provided tinned water which tastes metallic, milk in plastic pots one of my pet…

Great location, lovely building, + The property is incredible- it’s so quirky, room was spacious, and we had a tiny balcony which was great, one of our rooms was upgrded, which was a lovely Surprise. There was one member of staff- think he was the manager, who was amazing- super helpful and friendly. Food was lovely- we had one meal in the evening which was good, and great value, buffet breakfast was amazing Location is amazing- halfway between Nottingham and Sherwood Forest, and had forest walks around the hotel itself. − The housekeeping lets it down a bit, one of our rooms (we booked 3) hadn’t been cleaned and we had to ask for the bed sheet to be changed, and you could write your name in the dust- this was rectified though, We had one breakfast which wasn’t buffet, and the avocado was inedible - really disappointing after the 2 previous days of fabulous buffet breakfasts. Be really wary of staying here if there’s a function!! The room our kids was upgraded to was right above …
