It was "fine" + The main theme of our entire trip was "fine." The room was great, spacious and cold A/C, attended to wonderfully daily. The bars were good, drinks seemed to be mostly top shelf liquors. The grounds of the resort were clean. The beach itself didn't seem to be cleaned well. There was sharp shells and trash each morning we came out. Upon check-in, which took well over an hour and a half, we were immediately ushered into a sales pitch to try and sit through a time-share type of presentation. Ugh...no thank you. It took many times of saying "no thank you" to finally get the point across. After paying for an all-inclusive, this is definitely not appreciated. The resort is marketed as an adult's only, but there were children from the sister resort next door at the beach daily. When this was brought to the attention of staff it was met with shoulder shrugs. We stayed in the Preferred Club - NOT WORTH IT. There is no way to differentiate who is and isn't a member …

Look Elsewhere! + If you are considering going to Secrets Aurora Cozumel, go elsewhere. We had the first issue when we were checking. The couple we were traveling with did not have a room and thus was placed at their sister resort. They were told to drop off their luggage the following day by noon and they would try to get them a room at Secrets sometime the next day. There were many other concerns that came up during our time there. One, the pavement is extremely uneven, even broken in places which makes it unsafe, especially in the evenings. We only had one friendly server at all of the restaurants and bars we went to. No smiles, no greetings, etc… This was very surprising, as every other place we have vacationed at had very friendly staff. Though they have a preferred member pool, etc… DON’T waste your money. There are no wrist bands so everyone accesses the preferred pool, etc.. Plus, they did not have enough chairs at the pools or beach area. They literally brought out folding ch…

Location and Service are spot on. + The resort is older and could use some TLC. Hot water is hit or miss. The staff are great. They made our stay wonderful. The snorkeling right off the beach is world class. The food was a solid 6/10. We will go back. The value is there for the location and the great service.

Relaxing girls trip + The staff were the best part of the entire stay. The “boss” lady Laluis and Jerry were amazing. Wendy was fantastic taking care of all our bartending/snacking needs. Our swim out room was perfect to float in as early or late as we wanted. − The facilities are starting to be worn out and run down. They will be upgrading/renovating at some point in the future but as it stands the resort needs a total facelift. Some guests had bad rooms while others like myself had a decent room, it was clean and comfortable but some things were missing or mismatched.

Poor Service and Broken Dreams + Our trip was memorable for all the wrong reasons, starting with the service, to little fruit flies in our room, to poorly lit walkways with chunks of concrete missing. My wife ended up breaking her ankle on one of the broken steps which prematurely ended our trip. Instead of showing empathy for our situation the staff was more concerned with how long we were going to need the wheelchair. Prior to leaving early, I asked to speak with a manager but was told they were unavailable and that I needed to contact Ms. Ana Vargas after returning home. After sending weekly requests to Ms. Vargas, who acknowledged receipt of two of my emails, my questions and requests have gone unaddressed. Given that my wife broke her ankle as a result of an unmarked broken step, we expected more. Instead, we incurred over $2,000 in medical expenses and additional flight costs to return home to see a specialist, which resulted in lost two days of resort time, no response fr…

Verry Disappointing and badly Managed. + We are A couple from quebec canada. We travel quite a bit(7 times in the last 2 years. I'd say more than average) . We haven't had too many complaints about our travels to date, as long as we have the minimum (good food, clean rooms and good service). We booked this hotel expecting Secrets resort quality . Our first room at check in had water falling from the ceiling like Niagara Falls. So they switched ust to another room. It was dirty, moldy smelly , badly in need of repairs(our room door had a 1 inch gap at the top and 1/2 inch gap at the bottom we coud see through). On the second day it rained and water was flooding in from under the door across our room. We demanded a change and they were willing to upgrade us to preferred room but only at end of day, so we lost almost the whole day . Very disappointing. The food on the first day was horrible. We ate at oceana for breakfast and it was OK. For lunch we tried buffet and most of the foo…

Comically Quirky (not always in a good way) + This was our first trip to an all-inclusive resort. We figured it would be like a cruise. We had a Preferred Club Oceanview Junior Suite. Beautiful view; near the Preferred Club Pool. We were traveling with a group & some had regular rooms & some Preferred Club. Check in took forever for the Preferred Club due to “personalized service”… that was about the only personalized experience we had. This property is older & the buildings are showing their age, our room was large but dated decor, the couch was so uncomfortable we resorted to the small bistro chairs. The bathroom had an open shower but the hand wand wouldn’t shut off which reduced the pressure on the rain shower. The shower water was just warm but the sinks had hot water…honestly we are not overly picky but little things like this kept piling up. Our first night dinner was mediocre at best; I figured I just ordered the wrong thing…later we walked to the buffet to pick up some fruit…

Half the restaurants closed. Too many better choices out there + I took my entire family of 4 for a weeks' vacation. This resort is obviously old, and they are trying to renovate however, the real issue was the number of closed restaurants as well as the quality of food. One of the biggest items that I look forward to on vacation is trying someplace new as well as new food in a new place. This resort closed at least half of the restraints each day forcing us to wait for an average of 30 min to an hour for dinner. Then after the long wait the food was at best average. The highlight was how great the staff was. location was very nice but, the amount of coral rock once you enter the water is foot shredding. There are also no stores at the resort that sells essentials like sunscreen and Tylenol. Also, if you want to use the pier at the resort you will have to pay $10 person. With so many other choices and places to go we will not be coming back.

The staff at Secrets Aura really make the place like home! + We came back to Secrets Aura Cozumel for the fifth time over the July 4th holiday and, as usual, had a wonderful time! We didn't get the Preferred Club Ocean View Superior room we requested at check in but Glendy in the Preferred Club check-in office helped us into room 1444 the next day! A beautiful room and even better view! Thank you, Glendy! We were surprised to find the hotel planned two big beach parties with buffet dinners during our stay. On July 4th, a huge celebration of American Independence Day including fireworks and live band. The next night they used the same setup for a Mexico vs. UK soccer game beach watch party, minus the live band. The tacos were wonderful and such a party! We had dinner at Bordeaux twice during our stay and the meals prepared by Chef Jenny and her staff were wonderful! Yuriana took care of us for our first dinner and worked so hard to ensure we a great dinner experience and is so very k…

Don’t pay attention to the bad reviews. + Secrets Aura Cozumel is a very nice resort. We were in a preferred room and we had no issues with it. Apparently the non-preferred rooms have been updated and the preferred rooms are about to be closed for a couple of years to be updated as well! So that will be even better! There was a sunscape resort next door that just finished being updated and will now be a dreams preferred section, and that looks very nice, so if they do the same work at secrets it will be an amazing resort! All the restaurants had very good food and service was great! We only had a service issue once, at oceana for breakfast, but that was a crossover day so I feel like there was double the people there right then. The hibachi chef was hilarious and the food was amazing and the views from up there were even better! Salvador, the preferred concierge was great and very accommodating to all of our large groups needs! My absolute favorite person at the resort was our server/…

10th Trip To Secrets Aura Cozumel and Never Disappointed + We have been coming here since 2012. This was our 10th visit. We love the staff, the beach, rooms, and food. Bordeaux is our favorite restaurant. The service there is fantastic. The hostess is so nice and has a smile all the time. The appetizers, soup/salad, and main course was served with excellent timing. Luis did an excellent job pairing the wine with our dinners. I highly recommend dining in the wine cellar! He has been taking care of us for 10+ years. He is a special person and an amazing employee! William is a true master of his craft at making bananas foster! Migual is an excellent server and said hello everyday we walked by the restaurant. The staff remembers you and it makes it feel like home. Yulianna did a good job serving us as well. Carlos is one of our favorite bar tenders. He remembers how we like our drinks! Our room was very clean every day! The house keeping was great! The beach service was great and th…

Sublime experience + Hotel right on beach. Snorkeling is great right off the hotel beach. Had to upgrade from the two level location to the four level main hotel. Had to pay more though, but it had plunge pool in room, so it was worth it. The food is great, restaurant Oceania has delicious food. The room service , cleaning services were awesome. Had to call to get minibar restocked. Only problem there was loud construction noise going on above the room into the evening one time. The beaches are clear with no seaweed. Beautiful views, awesome stay.

Charged $460 for One Hour of Tennis — Unacceptable Experience + My experience with Secrets Aura Cozumel was unacceptable. I was verbally quoted “460” to use the tennis court while I was in Mexico, so I understood the price to be 460 MXN. Instead, my card was charged $460 USD for only one hour of tennis. I would never knowingly agree to pay $460 USD for one hour, especially since I was escorted off the property immediately afterward and received no access to the pool, beach, food, drinks, fitness center, or other resort amenities. When I disputed the charge, the resort submitted a handwritten receipt to my bank as evidence that I had agreed to pay $460 USD. In my opinion, a handwritten document that could easily be recreated or changed does not establish what I was verbally quoted or knowingly authorized. The resort also claimed that I used its facilities on Saturday. However, I have an original timestamped and location-tagged photo showing that I was at a completely different gym i…

Secrets Aura Cozumel - Third trip was a charm! + I kept waiting to get a survey from UVC but didn't so here is my review. This was our third time staying at Secrets Aura Cozumel to celebrate my husband's birthday. We love this resort and the location, the resort is clean, the employees are friendly and helpful. When we first arrived there was an issue with our room, we requested a ground level floor due to my inability to climb stairs because of knee problems and were told via email it was confirmed. Instead we were checked into a 2nd floor room with no elevator access. We were told we would only be there overnight because they were full but would be moved the following morning. We were instructed to go to the front desk between 9 am - 9:30 am and they would have our new room information. We were also told we needed to be out of the current room by Noon. To make a long story short, the new room was "ready" but was not "approved" even though we were given a tour of the room and…

2 star at best + Well, arrived to a room with mold/water damage/upteen plaster bagworms. After 1.5 hours, finally moved. And the new room had water damage and broken lamp/phone/electrical. This is a horrible way to begin a vacation. The place is destined to be remodeled. But rather then treat it as such, the big push for Preferred and Unlimited is such a focus that anyone who is not will get treated more then subpar (however, even those in preferred rooms had complaints). This trip ended with a simply defeated couple who allready knew any request would be a no. Hyatt must do better but I do not think they will as that Preferred/Unlimited push is a set management drive that will cause solid issues as it did with me and many others. Rating given a second star as, with any other all-inlcusive, there are multiple hard working, kind staff.
