Grand Oslo + The Grand Oslo is in a perfect location and staff was friendly . The room we chose indicated courtyard view but in fact was 4 walls and dirty - has no views that anyone would be Ok with .,

Don't Expect to Sleep! + I stayed at the Grand Hotel Oslo from Wednesday 3rd to Friday 5th December in room 370, which overlooks Arbeidergata, the street that runs between the east side of the Grand Hotel and the west side of the neighbouring Scandic Karl Johan hotel. I was not aware that this side of the hotel was directly over the loading bay of the hotel where, every morning from 05:30 onwards, trucks would arrive and depart, delivering supplies to the hotel, and multiple garbage trucks would arrive. Each garbage truck appears to have processed a different type of waste, with the crushing machinery on board the truck creating a deep, low frequency vibration that shook the entire side of the room. On Thursday morning, this took place for about 30 - 45 minutes. On Friday morning it began at 05:30 and continued until 08:00 - ie, 2.5 hours without sleep, and with an appalling headache from the vibration. I called the front desk and they did offer to move me but, at 06:00 in the morning…

Excellent stay + We keep coming back to Grand, again and again. Another excellent stay. The room had a view of the park and parliament. Super service, quality across the board. Breakfast in the restaurant is fresh and with a wide selection. Also had the continental breakfast in the room. Highly recommend, though the orange juice in the restaurant is better. Room service comes fast, they bring a bucket of ice if you ask for it. Would have wanted more options for the room service lunch menu, but can recommend both the fish and burger. Room service wine selection is decent. Will for sure come back.

Nobel Suite stay + Elegant and luxurious. We stayed in the Nobel suite. Worth the price. Great memories seeing the current Nobel Peace Prize winner on the balcony of the room we were in. Met several interesting international travelers at breakfast.

Ok, at best. + Had a tired old room with dust in the corners and the finish on the bed head worn and cracked off. Paid a premium price and was disappointed with the room. the lobby is lovely, but had to go to the bar to find someone to help with checking in, all the staff were out the back when we arrived. We stayed at another hotel next door at the start of our trip in Norway and it was much better than this one, and cheaper!!

Lovely Stay + The Grand Hotel is a wonderful gem. We stayed in room 454 which was exceptionally clean and very quiet. I especially liked the comfortable bed and pillows. The historic Grand Cafe has a chill vibe for breakfast with many options such as fresh green and red juice and ginger shots. Karl Johans Gate is a delightful walking boulevard and a metro (T-Bain) is conveniently located on the same block. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay here again.

Lovely stay in a great hotel - read the review for the full picture + We spent two nights here as part of our mad dash tour of Norway. The hotel is in an old building but the communal areas and room (or at least our room) are beautifully presented. The only problem we had on arrival is that there was some ongoing maintenance involving a very pungent glue that, while not a health hazard, was a very strong smell that gave us both a headache when it permeated into the room (due to the service staff leaving the door open while they cleaned it). We brought this up with the reception desk staff who were completely understanding and we were able to move to a better room for no extra charge and they threw in a couple of other extras... this was very fair and we enjoyed the rest of our stay immensely. The staff were lovely and made us feel valued and welcome despite our short stay. Lovely location too... just opposite the parliament building... try doing that in London :-) While the glue issue…

Week trip to Oslo + We stayed for 4 nights and throughly enjoyed the city. The hotel is well located and the beds were comfy. The cleaning service was excellent. Despite this being a special occasion for me, there was less than a welcoming opportunity to enjoy more of the hotel from the front desk. I expected more. The rooms are basic and the overall feel of the hotel was clean but dated. It is about 5yrs out from some serious CAPEX. The hotel room ha part thin walls and despite being on the 4/5 floor, it was noisy. There was working and sawing at 7.10am one morning which really wasn’t on. The SPA is enjoyable if used during mid afternoon as you will be unbothered but the steam room needed a through clean/bleach. The 250 NOK is too much for a paying guest. Would I stay here again, probably not. I am sure I could find a better version nearby.

Grand old Dame of Oslo didn’t fail to impress + Look and feel of a very upmarket hotel with lots of history and it doesn’t fail. Excellent service, fab lobby bar, room was fine if a little on the small side, location great (although outside noise annoying in the late hours)…overall a very nice stay and would definitely return

Grand Hotel Oslo has seen better days + Once the grand dame of Oslo hotels, it has become tired, with a bathroom upgrade urgently needed. Stepping into a bathtub to shower, an overheated room and paying to use the sauna/pool is not what five star hotels are about in 2026. The Continental Hotel Oslo is a higher end hotel.

Nice hotel-but bedrooms not 5 star standard. + We selected this hotel as it was 5 star, central and potentially a unique experience in comparison to modern hotels. The staff are excellent to a person. Polite, professional, helpful and provide a 5 star experience. The choice at breakfast is excellent. However, the petite queen rooms are very small and not what is conveyed on the website. They lack room and sufficient drawers to store clothes if staying more than 2 nights. A charge of 250k to use the hotel pool and sauna is very expensive and highly unusual for paying guests. The minibar is grossly expensive (93k for a bottle of water) and should be complimentary. Small touches such as a brolly for the weather would be an obvious guest service. We loved Oslo and the people but disappointed with this hotel.

Disappointing + Zero recognition of Scandic status. I knew the hotel was stingy based on the long list of benefits that do not apply, but I did not expect ALL the rest of them to be ignored too. No upgrades despite better rooms being available to book, no welcome card or anything in the room, on top of the lack of vouchers and discounts (to be fair the latter were mentioned on the website) and surly service at the front desk. Checkout time was a disappointing 12:30 when 1pm would have been a standard extended checkout time for status members. In fact, Hotel Norge (another signature Scandic property) routinely offers 3pm or 4pm for free! Additionally, the hotel charged me an arbitrary additional 300NOK for accidentally booking the room for one person instead of two DESPITE the original price being the same since no breakfast is included anyway. To top it all off, the front desk tried to charge for the room at checkout despite it already being pre-paid (by booking directly on Scandic…

Stay somewhere else! + Staff on check in were really rude, which gave us a really bad first impression and was a real shame as the reception area is beautiful and the location is great. Rooms are very basic, over priced and incredibly hot (there is air conditioning but it was turned off). Would not recommend this hotel.

A grand old hotel in the middle of Oslo + I stayed at the Grand Hotel Oslo and overall it’s a really solid option, mainly because of where it sits in the city. You’re right in the middle of everything, an easy walk to the Royal Palace Oslo, close to Nationaltheatret Station, and within a few hundred metres of a main bus hub. Most of the key sights are nearby, so getting around is straightforward. The rooms are nice without being over the top. Comfortable, well kept, and in line with what you’d expect from a hotel with that kind of history. Service was consistently good, and the bar downstairs is worth a visit, it’s got a great feel to it in the evenings. The gym is also better than expected if you’re planning to use it. A couple of small things stood out though. There’s no water in the rooms, which feels like an easy win they’ve missed. Also, you have to pay extra if you want to use the sauna and pool, which isn’t ideal. The rooftop bar looked great but was booked out when I was the…

Poor value + Disappointed. I booked the “superior plus” room, which turned out to be a broom closet at the end of a small hallway. No view. When I complained I was offered an upgrade for $100 USD additional per night. The Wi-Fi was terrible and the television did not work. When checking out I was given the very unpleasant surprise that you’re charged an outrageously high fee for using the pool. Something they didn’t tell me beforehand. It’s a nice location but otherwise a horrible experience. Definitely recommend anywhere else in Oslo.
