The great customer service that the staff at this hotel consistently deliver makes up for the minor issue I encountered. + Great, secure location. Excellent customer service. Good food. Clean, comfortable rooms. Facilities are well maintained overall. − Pillows too flat. No room was available to me until after 7.00p.m. Check in is at 3.00p.m. I arrived at 5.00p.m and had to sit around for over two hours. Breakfast buffet ran out of several items for prolonged periods of time.

Comfortable, secure, and well-managed stay, with commendable service and staff professionalism + I stayed at Protea Hotel by Marriott Owerri Select from 25 January to 4 February for a total of 10 nights, and the experience was very positive overall. On arrival, my room was upgraded at no extra cost, which I appreciated, especially as recognition of my previous stay in 2025. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a wide variety of options and more than enough choices each morning. The air conditioning worked well throughout my stay, and both the WiFi and general room comfort were reliable. Security at the main gate was thorough. While checks could sometimes feel selective, they are understandable given the current security situation in Nigeria and contribute to a sense of safety within the property. Think again. + The staff cleaners were very good and very friendly. The omelette at breakfast were also tasty. Rooms were clean and comfortable. − The reception was very poor. Especially when checking in. There was trouble with their card machine when checking in. My friends and I nded up getting charged twice each due to this issue. When we informed the reception, the just said to dispute 1 of the transactions. The reception were not helpful in maybe contacting the merchant who took our money twice. It was obvious that they didnt want to even know about it. They know whom their merchant is and could have reached out to them. This was in early March. I have still not received my money back. Also, we would order drinks which would arrive nearly 20 minutes after the order. The noise outside our window during the night and early morning was extremely loud between vehicles and security shouting at each other

Not the best experience despite paying millions. Do international people really rate this place? + The location − No ventilation in their rooms. They had to change our rooms still no ventilation. After showering steam from the shower have no where to go, so we had to open our bathroom door to let the steam in our bedroom. I washed my bonnet and hanged it in the room and for one week I was there it never dried. Me and my husband fell sick, very sick that we left that hotel to another one and healing started. Protea made their name and forgot that maintenance follows after making your name. Go to their Bar and Restaurant you see roofs leaking water. Anyways we will never lodge there again.

+ I was very impressed by the politeness and helpfulness of the staff, the excellent hotel facilities, and the high standard of cleanliness throughout the property. The breakfast and dinner were also of excellent quality, with a wide and varied selection of dishes to suit different tastes.
