A Great Holiday + We have been to Barcelo Maya Riviera multiple times and have found this resort to be an exceptional value. Our latest trip included a reunion with my wife’s sister, who we haven’t seen in 25 years. This was her first trip out of Russia. The room was very clean and housekeeping did an excellent job of providing extra towels and keeping the room spotless. Every request for additional soap and beverages was fulfilled promptly. The buffet at breakfast and noon was above average and the choices were way more than adequate. Eggs cooked your way, plenty of sausage and bacon, even gluten free and vegan areas, immense number of fruit and fresh juice. Lunch buffet had rib roast one day, pork roast another and everyday burgers, fish, steaks cooked to your specs plus the usual trays of every imaginable choice. Love love love! + Finally after 13 stays at the Barcelo maya complexe (we’ve stayed at all 5) we got the opportunity to stay at the Riviera adults only. It was all that we expected and more. Our dining experiences at all 4 restaurants were of high quality with enough choices to suit everyone’s palate. The service was very professional and were of high standard. We ate at all four à la cartes with our favourite being La Comédie (the French restaurant). Josefina (the m’aitre d’) is doing an outstanding job. The breakfast and lunch offerings in the buffet has the widest variety of choices we have ever seen in a buffet restaurant. There was absolutely everything one could possibly desire, and with a very high degree of quality. The room was beautiful with an extra large king bed and a jacuzzi on each balcony. There was no shortage of towels. The hotel public areas were clean and well maintained. We encountered no issues the entire week we were there. We will definitely be back! …

Agave restaurant! 10/10! + Amazing dining experience at the Agave restaurant. This restaurant allows you to choose from taco bar or restaurant style dining. Highly recommend the taco bar experience! All you can eat tacos with amazing service. Yeah, we have the pleasure of being served by Elena,Carlos and Hermelindo. The two chefs preparing the tacos in front of you were fantastic! Chill vibes + Came for a week with my friend for the all-inclusive experience. Highly recommend! Top-notch food and service. Immaculate clean grounds. Even a little of wildlife! We enjoyed this resort out of the others in the property as we are Gen X and it’s mostly chill vibes, not kids partying. Highly recommend. Muchas Gracias! We will be back.

Wouldn’t return here. Choose other options + Hotel is beautiful and staff is great. The beach is terrible, full of rocks and you can’t get into the water due to the Sharp rocks. Saw many tourists get injured. We had the worst food experience, look forward to cheap recycled food options, deep fried and lowsy burgers. A true disappointment. There are a lot of other options in Maya Riviera. Definitively wont’t choose another Barceló Hotel ever!

Amazing buffet! + We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Miramar Buffet thanks to Madai Aguilar and Martin Cituk! From the moment we arrived, they were both so warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us, always checking in with a smile and making us feel so welcomed. The service was outstanding, and their positive energy truly made our visit memorable. It’s rare to come across people who care this much about their guests, and it really shows. Nice facility. Rooms need updating + The AC in our room was not working for 4 out of the 6 nights we stayed. It made everything in our room wet and it didn't even cool down the room. Front desk said nothing was wrong with it, but we had to open the balcony door AND our front door to have ventilation to dry out the room. Our bedsheets and clothes and all were all wet from the AC condensation. TV broke twice, safe wouldn't open half the time. Front desk is hard to get a hold of to fix the issues. Was on hold for 20 mins at one point. Location and facility is nice aside from the room issues. Food is good, vibes are good. Staff is friendly. Just wish we had a better room.

Modern, but inconsistent service, uneven dining experience and lots of seaweed + Overall, this resort was a mixed experience and didn’t meet expectations, particularly on service and consistency. Check-in was scheduled for 3:00 pm, but my room wasn’t ready until 3:45. What made this more frustrating is that my friends, who booked through a travel agent, received early check-in at 2:00 pm and a complimentary upgrade to ocean view. I am a My Barceló member and paid $200 per night for an upgrade, yet received neither early access nor any recognition of loyalty. That was disappointing. The room itself was fine but had several annoyances: * Air conditioning was inconsistent — set to 22°C, and the ceiling fan turned off when lights were off * The temperature control panel and other lights (phone, ceiling) made the room surprisingly bright at night * No kettle, only an older-style coffee maker Service issues were a recurring theme. In Depth Full Review Adults Only + Just to start it off, this was my first all inclusive hotel experience aside from a Cruise ship. This was a trip for our honeymoon so we chose the adults only property. Didn't want the kids running around. The food was the only thing that we had an issue with at the property. I understand that buffets are not always perfect but for an adults only area I thought it would be different and taste better. Not to sound too harsh but my wife and I honestly dreaded breakfast and lunch everyday because of the quality of food. Might've actually lost a little weight on this trip due to lack of wanting to eat. We did go to the other hotels and tried there food as well and it wasn't much better. Presentation was better but the taste was the same to us. I wanted some good fresh Mexican food here and just never got it. Our dinners were great. Ate at 3 of the 4 restaurants the property. Loved Our Stay! + We loved everything about the property. Easily walkable and so beautifully thought out. All the staff were very helpful, attentive, and friendly. The pool was a nice enough temperature to cool you down but not freezing, and it was so expansive there was room for everyone. It was nice to see them cleaning the pool throughout the day to keep it as fresh as possible. The beach was absolutely perfect for the majority of our stay but the sargassum did take over for a few of the days, even with the staffs very best efforts to maintain it. This really didn’t affect us at all, we just stayed at the pool and enjoyed the music and entertainment. Our room was carefully presented, clean, and had everything we could possibly need.

Sleepless at the Riveria! + The reason I gave my experience at the Rivera a low score is the following. Foremost it is a CONFRENCE center. Which means it could have the potential to house hundreds……. of conventioneers! Which it does and all the functions that go with it. Concert, Massive parties etc. The hotel planners do an excellent job in this area! Unfortunately, they never considered the other guest staying there. The problem is they host all of the events SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HOTEL COMPLEX. Not at the massive convention center. The entry and entertainment area is four stories tall and all stone, cavernous, beautiful, the rooms surround it on either side, five stories tall in a semi-circle. Sound carries and amplifies by the stone and the open patio design. The DJ’s music travels up and into the halls through the rooms located anywhere near the center of the Rivera.
